Post your latest DX

A couple of random new catches in Chicago from yesterday:

1460 WROY in Carmi, IL in the southern part of the state, around 8PM in my south-facing window.

1660 KQWB in W Fargo, ND. Whenever I hear a sports station on 1660 I've been assuming it is Kansas City, but this time I stayed to wait for the ID to confirm and it turned out to be KQWB instead, coming in quite well. So probably some of the times in the past when I thought it was Kansas City it was KQWB.

Thanks @cyberdad. The broadcasting content has certainly changed. Just like every interstate exit looks the same, each market has the same line up of syndicated talk programming. I miss the local flavor that could be experienced listening to far away stations late at night. On the plus side, the tools and station information available today certainly makes ID'ing stations much easier. No need for my dog-eared copies of the Vane Jones log and WRTH.
You nailed it.

I was on a 1,000+ mile road trip last month with driving through Ontario, which was also a frequent business destination for me. There's some canned programming up there, along with cookie-cutter formats, but not to the extent that we have here. It was a very refreshing change. But as you alluded to we have more "tools and station information" today, which indeed makes DX catches easier to ID...and IMHO, more fun.

Nice! I've never heard WROY here, but I've heard KQWB on 1660 exactly once at my location.....and a couple of times "back in the day" when they were on 1550 (IIRC) and a local top 40 legend.

Thanks! WROY was pretty random, it came up to the top right on the hour before fading away. KQWB was pretty strong actually, to the point where I stuck around for an ID to see whether it was the Kalamazoo station or the Kansas City sports station, and I was quite surprised it was KQWB.

New catch this morning. 1440. WNFL, Green Bay, WI. 6:30am CDT, just before sunrise. Steady for about ten minutes with positive ID. I presume this was 5kw day pattern, although it contains a deep null aimed just to the west of me. Radio was C Crane Skywave, 155 miles

Heard WNFL 1440 a few weeks ago in SE Michigan, along with WBAY...WTAQ 1360, and WHBL1330, one of the last portable stations owned by Charles L. Carrell, that the FCC told to stay in one place or go off the air. They left quite a few where the were. I tried for some of the other stations I heard years before, like WPLY 1420 Plymouth, and WGLB 1560, but no identifiable programming. WAWA 1590 once boomed in but is long gone.

KQWB is semi-common here in eastern Washington at night, mixed with KBRE in Merced. I have not heard KWOD Kansas City yet, nor KRZI Waco, and both are also sports.

No, as 1550 is loaded with KKOV, KRPI, KGMZ (or whatever they are now, Channel Q), and very occasionally, KMRI. I still need Reno AND Fresno on 1550! You'd think I'd hear them by now.

Good conditions from North America were back on the Iceland SDR (westfjords). CFRB and WINS battling on 1010 with CFRB getting the better of it. WBZ strong, WBT weak, WBBR strong, WTAM fair. WJR fair. WWKB fair. This was all around 0340 CST Sunday morning.

At 11:30 pm cst on 11/14 I’m hearing r&b oldies on 780, mixing with WBBM, ID as 102.1 The Box. Apparently WIIN from Ridgeland Mississippi on late. A new one for me.

Even better DX this morning on the Iceland (Westfjords) SDR. 890 WLS surprisingly good. 780 WBBM fair/good, 1000 WLUP strong,1010, CFRB over WINS, 1030 WBZ good, 1100 WTAM good with Spanish underneath..Cuba? WBBR mixing with another station on 1130, Not sure what. Nice pipeline to the midwest. All this around 0:330 CST.

While waiting in my car for a morning appointment, caught 840 KTIC West Point, Nebraska with a clear steady signal. 11/19 0735 30 minutes after local sunrise. KTIC ID, news and sports, followed by the National Anthem.

From west Houston, a couple of new ones

1050 KJBN AR, Little Rock 11/17 1748 CST ID "the music you want, the truth you need" and gospel music equal to XEG. Local KCHN had signed off but running open carrier
1690 WMLB GA, Avondale Estates, 11/18 1800 ID "the all new freedom 1690" and Townhall news.

An odd one: checked Kingwood SDR, about 30 miles NE of me last night at 2330. WABC was on top of 770 //stream with KAAM way underneath. On my radio, the usual KAAM was dominant with XEACH underneath, not a whiff of WABC. I've never heard WABC here, but now I'll try a little harder...
