Between roughly 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM EDT in Durham, North Carolina, I experienced the most significant eSkip here in 2-3 years, primarily from the area where South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa meet. I was able to ID the following:

88.3 KESD, Brookings, SD
88.5 KLDX, Sioux Center, IA
89.5 KLFG, Fort Dodge, IA
92.1 KORN, Mitchell, SD
94.3 KDOM, Windom, MN
95.9 KILR, Estherville, IA
98.3 KUQL, Ethan, SD
99.7 KARZ, Marshall, MN

I presume you mean "Los Mochis, Sinaloa". That is an amazing catch, as Mochis is blocked by severe mountains to the east and northeast.

Los Mochis topographic map, elevation, terrain is a topographical map of the Sinaloa / Sonora coastal area showing the mountain range nearby.
Yep, Here is a RDS pi decode. Was 89.3 XHUDO

Also a bit before before it 95.1 XHCCI appeared in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico

Last year i had 95.3 XHPY and 96.1 XHEOO in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico.

and the prize of the day - 105.9 W290DB Naples, Fox Sports, all of 250 watts, with a relatively clean signal for the distance and power!

ALSO had a 95.5 mystery - Southern Gospel music, 3-4 songs with no IDs at all. Suspecting a translator in Titusville FL, but could also be one of a couple of LPFMs at 100 watts or less in FL. Ideas anyone?

The Es drought finally ended for me on May 30. Had a late afternoon opening that lasted about an hour and a half with reception from the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia. New stations logged were:

88.9 WKVC "The Carolinas' positive, encourage K-LOVE" (with Myrtle Beach references) - North Myrtle Beach, SC
91.1 WTSE "Spirit FM - Serving Southeast Tennessee" - Benton, TN
92.3 WXLK "K92" - Roanoake, VA (over semi-local)
93.5 WSRM "South 93.5" - Coosa, GA

About 30 minutes later, 93.5 XHPP "Arroba" in Pánuco, Veracruz, came up for a while. It's a station I've previously logged only via tropo and was a short Es hop at just 511 miles.

On May 31 I had a brief mid-day opening from the Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota areas. Last night (June 2) around 9 p.m. I had KNSK in Ft. Dodge, IA, in for a bit.

Hoping for more Es soon and higher MUFs like you guys at the higher latitudes are getting. ;)

I just turned on the AM tuner of my Pioneer SX-626, and for a few fleeting moments, something came booming in (itself odd, since this tuner is relatively deaf), with some PSA talking about Cincinnatians. Cincinnatians?

I checked, and it was tuned somewhere between 550 and 600 kHz, and there's two possibilities (WKBN and WKRC).

Both are extremely unlikely, but if I did indeed hear one of those, I'm impressed!

Of course, it faded out within a few seconds, and is now completely gone, so I can't confirm or prove anything....

EDIT: I was using an ungrounded 50 foot longwire with the ends oriented roughly east-west.

Probably WKRC then, as WKBN Youngstown is quite a ways away from Cincinnati. If it was a newscast and not a PSA, it might be a state news story about Cincinnati.

WKRC has quite a good skywave to the North at Night even with 1000 watts, and radios which are somewhat insensitive to ground waves will get stronger skywaves at Night and during Critical Hours.

Where were you when you heard it?

You're in California, is that right? Neither WKBN nor WKRC sends much night signal west. Same goes for WTVN on 610. Of course, one of these could have running on day pattern. If that's the case, it might open the door for WTVN, which sometimes makes it here in the daytime into parts of the Chicago area. WKBN does fairly well to the west on day pattern, but WKRC still doesn't send lmuch juice west during daytime in order to protect KTRS in Saint Louis.

KMJ is a good possibility, and might well come in strongly sometimes during Critical Hours and Night. Along with WWJ, WXYT, and KJR, it is the only other former Class III Regional station to take full advantage of newer rules allowing 50000 watts full time on those Regional frequencies. Note that most of the highest power Class Bs are on the Coasts or Northern Canada US Border, using directional antennas beamed toward unpopulated and thinly populated areas with few stations. KMJ reportedly is heard frequently in Hawaii, probably hopping between the ionosphere and the highly conductive Ocean. KMJ uses a four tower parallelogram beamed that direction.

Zoom out at this link to see the Green 0.5 mV/m 50% Skywave. The Bay Area probably gets several millivolts/meter 10% Skywave.

Heads up Chicago DXers. Local WXES AM 110 and WMBI 90.1 FM are completely off the air as I write this. They both share the same tower.

West Coast had a nice, long Es opening this morning/afternoon. I missed a lot of it because I was subbing at an elementary school, but during their specialist and recess time I caught a few stations, including a new station, 99.9 KESZ Phoenix. CA, AZ, NV and NM all noted. More later.
Our own pclover was able to DX most of the opening and had tons of Alberta and a few Montana FMs. I think some eastern WA as well.

Wow. I've heard a few Montana stations in Michigan. Interesting that we could potentially hear the same stations.

It's interesting that I heard what was once KMCM-FM Miles City, MT in Southeast Michigan in the 1980s when it was on 92.5. I'm always puzzled when I see that stations that I distinctly remember being on a certain frequency have moved. It's KYUS-FM 92.3 now.

He had Great Falls on several channels, Helena, KYMI-97.5 Charlo (Air 1, serving Polson and Missoula), and a few more from AB/SK.
A friend in Goldfield NV logged my local 92.9 the Bull in Yakima, plus a 100 W LPFM from Newport WA - KWHJ-LP 92.3 (a 3ABN station).

Quite a fun opening.
