I use to catch KKOB in central Kansas often at night. It comes in here, in central Texas, very weak under the 770 in Dallas.
Here in Houston, they're regularly heard mixing with Dallas and XEACH and/or Cuba since going to the ND STA. When they were on their directional pattern, they were very rarely heard outside of pre-sunset pattern change.

3/26 9:00 AM CST 107.5 WWGF Donalsonville,GA "Good News Network " gospel 6kw 292 ft. Good copy 126 miles.

107.1 WGMY Thomasville, GA top 40.
Elvis Duran syndicated show. Good copy
100kw 823 ft.

Both stations only heard with a band opening.

710 KGNC Amarillo came in really strong the other morning around 7 a.m. CT here in central Texas.
I can't believe how it was almost as strong as a local, and like a beacon through the sky.

413 miles away for a regional non-clear ch. AM.

Normally, I hear KEEL Shreveport mixing with KGNC, with KGNC a little stronger.
This morning, however, KGNC was heavy.

That station can have stellar moments. Back in the early 60's in Cleveland, Ohio, just before sunset in Amarillo I'd get a humongous signal from that station for ten to fifteen minutes. Another that did the same thing was KGGF 690 in Coffeyville, KS. Both, incidentally, were owned by the Seaton family that had a lot of newspapers in that area.

KKOB came in strong here in Austin the other morning, around 6 a.m. Was loud and clear with the Dallas 770, which usually rules the frequency, nowhere to be found.

Capturing that station that strong from 413 miles was like an all-time high, an excitement.
It's part of the joy of DXing.

710 is vacant during the day. Many nights, neither Amarillo nor Shreveport come in here, most nights the two intermix with Amarillo usually stronger, particularly in the early a.m. hours.

2/27 9:47 PM CST 1220 KC WLPO La Salle,IL
Classic rock very weak 500 watts 3 towers.
Mentioned their sister FM on 103.9.
A new one!
Mike, that's a nice catch. One of WLPO's three spokes is pointed your way, but at 500 watts you need Cleveland's 50 kW to hush and WERM in Fairhope, next door to you, to be behaving.

a few of the better loggings the past several days, too many to post!

…thought WSLM Salem, IN would have gotten in the way of WLPO. lately WSLM has been a fairly regular strong signal here in NE IL. WSLM at 5kW is one of the more powerful 1220’s other than WHKW or WDYT (25kW) in NC. Propagation has its strange ways, doesn’t it?

Yes strange propagation can happen.
Like the time WSM faded out, and I heard another station on 650 playing "Don't sleep in the subway " by Petula Clark. I believe it was Cuba. Very rare.

I liked your post because WLPO is an excellent catch from the FL panhandle. I have heard WCPH TN before on a DX test, 1/1/2021. Very, very weak from Ellensburg WA, but I heard the morse code on that test. I believe it was just over 2,000 miles.
1220 isn't a packed channel eastbound. Mainly CJRB in Manitoba, with a little KSLM Salem off the back and occasionally, pointing south, KHTS or KDOW in California.

The only 1220s i have logged from AK are KDOW, CJRB, CFAJ and XEB

3/28 9:22 PM CST 1260 KC KBRH Baton Rouge, LA. The Blues good copy. 127 watts 1 tower.

Hearing several Latino stations this evening south of the border.

1220 KEB?
770 Very good copy then faded out. Reception was strongest northwest/southeast. Nothing listed for Cuba. Could be Mexico but wrong direction.

At 12:05am in Picayune, MS I'm hearing
1270 WBOJ Columbus, GA - The Valley's Greatest Hits, Boomer 102.5 5kw day/188w night
Earlier around 11pm, I heard
1280 WIHB Macon, GA - 97.3 and 103.3 The Bull Icons 5kw day/99w night. After WIHB faded out, it was replaced by 1280 XEAW Monterrey - La Gran 10kw day/1kw night. WODT New Orleans isn't coming in as usual.
