Nice short skip on Algona IA! 594 mi Laramie to Algona. Is that your first AB from WY too? I have CJXX via meteor scatter here, and I have heard other Grande Prairie FMs on Es from my brief stint in Cascade, Idaho, on 8-4-2025.

I had some more E-skip tonight, 6:45-8:15PM or so...but took a break to shop and it did drop out for a bit. Then came back 9:15-9:25PM tonight. Two new logs:
104.7 - KCLD St. Cloud, MN, at 8:18PM w/ Slow Jams and RDS "KCLD", PI match. NEW #1010, 100KW at 1246 miles.
89.3 - KRSW Worthington, MN; classical music and MPR RDS PI match, 9:22PM PT. NEW #1011, 100KW at 1209 miles.

Relogs heard: KNXR-97.5 Rochester, MN; KSCR-93.5 Benson MN, KNBZ-97.7 Redfield SD, KXLP-94.1 Eagle Lake MN, KCMP-89.3 Northfield MN (Current), KESD-88.3 Brookings, KATO-93.1 New Ulm/Mankato, KIPI-93.5 Eagle Butte SD, KJRV-93.3 Wessington Springs SD, KUSQ-95.1 Worthington MN, KFBN-88.7 Fargo ND (weather forecast recorded), KNSW-91.7 Worthington MN (MPR News), KOPJ-89.3 Sebeka MN (LifeTalk, too strong to be KGLU Wishram WA and matching 89.5), and interestingly, KKDT-93.5 Burdett/Hays KS with Thunder Country, not heard in a few years, and quite a ways off from the skip cloud!

When I lived in Laramie 6 years ago before moving to alaska, I had one AB log.. one was CJXX! ironically enough

This was interesting for sure but not as puzzling as one day in Laramie, in the morning.. i had a sudden spike to 101.5 in Ft St John, BC for CKNL... then that night I had a sudden spike to 92,.7 and the very southern tip of Baja California Sur for XHELPZ.

Nothing else on the dial at all that day and id gone 1400 miles north in the morning and 1400 miles south in the evening

then that night I had a sudden spike to 92,.7 and the very southern tip of Baja California Sur for XHELPZ.

No joke, when I went to Mexico back in 2019, (B.C.S., 🇲🇽 near Los Cabos), there was only one audiable radio station on the entire dial !! 96.3 Cabo Mil (XHSJS-FM).

And even that station was about 20 miles away, much closer to the other cabo, San Jose del Cabo, 5 miles away, or about 15-20 miles from Cabo San Lucas, behind mountains, with a transmitter atop Gringo Hill. Location coordinates: 23°01′46″N 109°43′43″W
and station website: Cabo Mil - 96.3

My reception location was on the western border of Cabo San Lucas, where the Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort is. Had the beach all to ourselves. There was a few other distant FM stations on there but couldn't really hear them because of terrain blockage.

Todos Santos was also a nice small town to visit, halfway to La Paz, from Los Cabos, didn't get to check FM reception from there however.

Nighttime AM reception was much better, mostly Spanish, but lots of English Classic Hits options also.
