I'm not complaining, because I'm guilty of this myself, but whenever we post airchecks on this board, could we start posting responses when we download an aircheck? It doesn't have to be nothing big, but something like "thanks", etc.

The reason I ask this, is because I would post more airchecks if I knew that people was interested in downloading them. I just checked the KMMX aircheck that I posted, and it has reached its 25 download limit, but I did not get one response. Some boards require that you post some kind of response in order to access the download link.

Like I have said, I am also guilty of this myself. Alot of times, JohnY. has posted airchecks, but I did not post a response. My bad John :)

But seriously, if I knew that I was not wasting my time posting these airchecks, then I would post alot more.

Just a suggestion.....

Frank, you're not wasting your time. Last week I posted some classic stuff, and I know it was downloaded, but there weren't any responses. Thanks for everything! Matt<P ID="signature">______________

Hi Frank,

Yes, I agree with Matt, you are not wasting your time. Just like you said you don't always reply to me, I'm just as bad because I didn't reply to you (I downloaded KLZK, KKCL, KMMX). But, it is very nice when even one person says thanks. It makes me feel like all the work was worth it. So, thank you Frank.

We all know why we don't always say thanks, I don't think any of us are looking for 25 replies that just say "thanks". I know I wouldn't want to read through that much. Still, you are right, no reply leaves you wondering whether it is worth it.

That's why several months back, I asked what formats guys are interested in hearing. I won't waste my time recording classical, talk, or sports unless I have a specific request. But, if you record Country, Oldies, CHR, Hip Hop, AC, 80s... it WILL be downloaded.

I'm looking into ways that downloads might be logged, perhaps this box.net service that Lance pointed us to might help. I have some other ideas. But will have to think that one through a bit.

But... my thanks also to all the other guys who have posted too.

Frank,

You're absolutely right. Thanks for the airchecks and please everyone, keep them coming. Its been a while since I gotten to do any trading and R-I and Jinglemad collectors are the only 2 things that are taking care of my "fix" :) College is fun, but man, does it overwhelm you sometimes. I was looking at the Posts on the Cleveland board and on the CHR Pop board about people going on about Q92 in Canton, OH. At least they have SOMETHING to listen to. Here in Morehead, KY, you've got a Hot AC that might as well be an AC/Rock hybrid, a Country station and the Public Radio station I work at. Now THATS some sucky radio. LOL. But anyways, THANKS!

Thanks Jamz, I like to get feedback as well, and like all of us I'm guilty too, although I don't always download everything you guys post. I pretty much know what you guys like so I try to post a variety of stuff. Or as JohnY and Jamz and others has done recently by posting airchecks from markets not served by aircheckers when my travels take me there.

One thing about airchecks I post that I would like feedback on if you guys are willing... I like to post airchecks that may not always be mainstream or commercial radio...In fact, I like posting stations I find don't sound "major" or "large" market, or bird fed but play popular music formats. I'd especially like feedback or discussion on those types.

I'd also like to get airchecks from internet stations you guys like. Please though, it has to be a "good" sounding stream, not the low bit tinny types. I know these are few and far between so if you do find a good one please post an aircheck of it if you can or want. And thanks to all.

I'm always fascinated with the LPFMs, ethnics, student-run radio stations, fringe religious broadcasters, and other radio flotsam and jetsam, and would love to hear some more airchecks/streamchecks of them here.

And to that end KWSS-LP in Scottsdale, AZ (http://www.kwss1067.com/) and KEAO-LP in Wailuku, HI (http://www.manaoradio.com/) both have only a 128 kbps stream, so they *might* be worth streamchecking.

Incidentally, a moderator on some of the other boards has a hard and fast rule against simple "thank you" posts. I'm not saying whether that's good, or bad, to avoid breaking Rule #5, but there is certainly good in including a comment about the aircheck with the thank you, since discussing radio is why we're here.

That's why I try to use SendSpace. If you register, they let
you keep track of how many people have downloaded files,
and it's free.

YouSendIt makes you pay for keeping track of downloads.

Also, SendSpace allows more downloads and the file is available
for 14 days instead of YouSendIt's 7 day/25 download limit.

The only concern is which one is more reliable. YouSendit was
definately more reliable in the past, but lately I've noticed
SendSpace is not down or too busy as it was a few weeks ago.

Not Wasting Your Time....

Jamz,

Continue you posting the airchecks. You aren't wasting your time.

As webmaster of mp3airchecks.com, I get on avearge 1500 downloads A DAY (1800 - 2000 for the past 3 days) but a "thanks" very rarely comes through.

I would say that I get one email of appreciation every month. While I don't mind that, a little bit more feedback keeps me motivated. I do know that people just grab the audio and run, I understand that. But on the other hand, I put ALOT of work and alot of money into the site every week. It's not cheap to host all the audio we have on the site, but I do it because I love it.

As for the airchecks on this board, I don't grab everything that gets posted, but I will say thanks for what I do grab
