Poughkeepsie Fall Ratings, PPM Prediction

Now that New York City has already got their PPM system started back in the fall, Poughkeepsie still uses the diary system until the PPM's will take place in the next 3 years which will be 2012. Let's get on with, what will we have here:

1. WPDH wins big! Congratulations! WPDH goes back to #1 for the first time in a few years as a classic rock station beating WBPM to the punch at a 2 share. WBPM is a good station than CBS-FM and Randy Turnip did an excellent job for doing the "Music Blimp" every Saturday night, kudos to him! The "Music Blimp" rocks!!!!! Way to go!
2. WSPK is down a little bit, but it's okay
3. "Kiss-FM" an urban hip-hop/R&B/rhythmic station sounded the same as "Hot 97" and "Power 105" does than to WBLS and WRKS. Somebody give me an advil? I'm not going to explain that. It's down a little bit.
4. WBWZ and WBPM are all tied, as I said before, the "Music Blimp" sounds great as mentioned many times on the board, the show does well playing a bunch of New Wave music for hardcore fans of 80's New Wave music, pretty fun, isn't it! WBWZ's "Star 93.3" had a new syndicated show back in the fall where Ryan Seacrest from "American Idol" now being syndicated on this station, but on the other hand, Z-100 already carried Ryan's show from LA. If you are a Ryan Seacrest fan or an "American Idol" fan, go check out his show. He's good.
5. "The Wolf" sounded much better than WRWD, except another football game to be carry on "The Wolf" is the New York Jets football which was a few months ago, I'm a Giants fan, but I don't listen to the Jets, because I'm not a Jets fan. Now we two of these sports team to be carried on "The Wolf", they got Yankees baseball which I'm still a Yankee fan, the Jets football, because I'm not a Jets fan, but as for the music, it sounds good. You should give WRWD credit for that, as for the Country war, WRWD, it's still down a little bit I think. I was predicting that "The Wolf" will ever go to #1? No! That's what I said in my 2009 predictions thread back a few weeks ago during the New Year.
6. "Lite-FM" is a good station than WHUD 92.1, but 98.5 sounds better with B&S which is better than Howard Stern, O&A and Imus, but it does uses the same traffic sounder from WHUD. I checked three stations which are WRNQ and WCTW are still playing the traffic sounder and WHUD plays the same thing. I've heard during dinner time and in the morning when I was living in Putnum Valley. You got to give the station credit.

Now for the AM's

WKIP went way down when it was the station playing adult standards MOR/"Music of Your Life" format can also usually heard on WHUC, WGHQ and WELV many years ago since 2001, as for the talk station, it's way down, not too good for this one. Sorry!

And now for my ratings prediction, if Arbitron continues with the old diary system, maybe people in the Hudson Valley will make a prediction if they can go the PPM system which will be in effect by the next 3 years. Albany will have one next year and the Hudson Valley by 2012. Any questions?

Oh, the humanity- pass the advil

Anyway-
The wolf- ratings in the dirt under under the dumper and will never get any better. The country fans are fickle age getting them to switch from wrwd is futile, unless they offer up something different. They play tunes that are not even close to being country, wtf is with that?? A waste of 2 good dial positions. Both wrwd and the woof play the same hot country rotations.

WRWD- yah they dropped to #5 overall; this is the nature of the arbs. I will say that the on air talent needs some work. Walker, paty Quyn and part timer Vince Mc Nally sound good, but cody and stump jumper dave need to go. these two are terrible. Walker hasn't worked a full week in a long time; hmm who puts up with that?? Then stumpjumper is on in the morning, what an embarrassment, dawn spicer would do better by herself

WKIP- this station would have at least a little credibility if it had a live and local show and got rid of **** in the morning, this haggard has been needs to be put out to pasture...

WBPM- came up a little from a 1.9 to a 2.2; at least its in the bottom of the dumper but it's inside the dumper and not under it. Morning show ok but hammer is full of himself. Mid day jj something is pitiful and Turner borders on unlistenable; his "rollin with the ran man " has gotta go...

Question: I'm assuming that the pok cheap channel cluster has been bought out??? Or will it be part of tuesday's CC housecleaning???

My $.02

discussion??? ???

warm590/590buddy ;D

I like WBPM alot Morning show is very good. JJ Carter is a very good DJ. He should be in a big market. Randy Turner is a very good PD. Randy knows his stuff.

Oy, the friggin' "Music Blimp" again. Advil. Advil. Advil.

Arbitron’s ratings system is flawed , and frequently has substantial variances in a stations ratings from book to book, at least in the meaningless 12+ book released to the public . .Not only did WRWD have a sharp drop in ratings but WPDH had a substantial gain - a 6.6 to a 8.0 and the #1 spot. Their different formats means they didn’t steal WRWD’s listeners . WBPM’s 2.2 is about as good as they will get with their rim shot Poughkeepsie signal .Over time I would think they may have taken some of WBWZ’s listeners but then again WBWZ is the only Poughkeepsie based Clear Channel Station to show an increase in ratings , albeit a small one; and their ratings are already in the crapper . All the other Clear Channel stations are sharply down .Pamal’s WSPK appears to have taken some of CC’s WPKF’s listeners as well . Also Citadel’s WABC made big gains and out ranked WKIP which has several of the same programs such as Imus and Rush Limbaugh . WE can’t know how much these heavily promoted programs contribute to WKIP’s ratings .At first I thought CC’s abandoning Arbitron for Nielsen later this year , in the small markets might have something to do all the Clear Channel’s ratings loses but Cumulus is switching also. If the ratings are accurate It probably has more to do with Clear Channel’s cut your way to profitably business model than Anything else .
Your comment that WKIP needs a locally produced talk program for the morning drive is dead on, they defiantly should try it., although given CC’s ever deepening budget cuts I don’t see that happening .
