Poughkeepsie Pirate 102.5

There's a Poughkeepsie pirate FM on the air with Jamaican music, and now even local commercials!! They've been around a while, and have adopted a consistent schedule of beginning broadcasting at 6:00pm every night, on all evening, with a pretty good signal in much of Poughkeepsie and surrounding area on 102.5. The audio is actually quite good too. They seem to be located on the East side of the city of Poughkeepsie. I wonder how long before they're shut down.

What kind of stupid local business would advertise on an illegal station? Hard to believe.

You think people running on it ask for certificate of authenticity? ;D

I think this is the same guy who has been broadcasting reggae on pirate 102.5 from Poughkeepsie’s east side on and off for a while now. They used to be on weekends. While particularly strong in the Arlington area of Poughkeepsie it puts a listenable signal into Hyde Park as well.As for a sponsor does anyone know what it is specifically? I wonder if it isn’t a friend or associate of the operator. It would give them some air exposure and the station somewhat a sound of legitimacy to its listener.

The "commerical" I have heard the most is for a Halloween event at the Cricket Club, 218 Winnikee Avenue. Also I've noted a commercial for what sounds like "Club 70".

I give them 2 months before FCC shuts them down.

On another side note, it appears that programming is not done live locally but taken off the internet and rebroadcast. Sometimes the computer re boots and all you hear is open carrier for hours at a time.
