The Business Journal

Later this fall, you will be able to hear KTAR at 620 on the AM dial and at 92.3 on the FM dial.

Bonneville International Corp., which owns KTAR, Wednesday announced it closed its $77.5 million buyout of 92.3 KKFR-FM from Emmis Communications. Concurrently, Bonneville also sold the Power 92.3 hip-hop format to Riviera Broadcast Group.

Erik Hellum, vice president/general manager of Bonneville Radio Phoenix, said that will allow KTAR to simulcast its news and talk format on both radio frequencies by Sept. 21, as the hip-hop format finds a new home on the FM dial at the 98.3 frequency.

Riviera also owns 103.9 KEDJ-FM in Phoenix.

Dont you think they will put the stronger format on the stronger signal.

Re: POWER 98.3 ?

The good news is that 620 KTAR will be heard on 92.3 FM and thus outside the immediate Metropolis area- which should include southern Yavapai County.

Unfortunately, KKLD The Cloud is a great oldies station on 98.3 -with a huge library of music--- We will certainly miss it - they tie in with a lot of old car shows and live remote stuff in the quad-cities and the Verde Valley--
Oh well, can't fight corporate buyouts. They can improve things as well as mess them up...

Not much power for their Power 92 signal into the Metro area - is it?

KKLD (98.3) and KZGL (95.9) will switch call letters, formats and frequency at 12:01am 7/31. KKLD will be on 95.9 and KZGL will be on 98.3.
