Power 106 changes to Today’s Hip Hop & Throwbacks

I like the fact Power 106 playing more throwback from the 90’s and early 2000’s. Any thoughts on their format tweak.

I’m 29 and I’m leaving the Power demo in a few years. I listen to primarily hip hop with KRRL, KPWR and KDAY as my go to. I listen to KDAY more often then KRRL & KPWR. IMO Real 92.3 is a resurrection of 92.3 The Beat from the 90’s.

Keep in mind that KDAY and Power are owned by the same company.
I already know that they are owned by the same company. Power 106 is doing what they should’ve been doing this last decade and that means playing all generations of hip hop and capture the upper demo that used to listen to the station in the 90’s.

I looked at the mediabase recently played songs and Power has started to lean more current hip hop again because I don’t see any 90’s hip hop on their playlists.

Rightfully so. They were literally leaving kday out to die. It was a dumb move to even think of trying to add more throwbacks/gold to power’s library. There’s nothing that can be done about power. They should’ve kept big boy happy. No need for any format change. but, it’ll just continue to get dominated by 92.3

As much as I’d love to hear old school on Power, it’s not going to happen because they’re catering to the generation of hip hop listeners.

92.3 should be the one playing some more 90’s throwback with their current hip hop.
