Power 106 tapes from 80s and early 90s

Anyone in LA have tapes/airchecks mixes of Power 106 from the 80s - 1992 (NOT INTERESTED IN ANYTHING BEYOND 1992)

Get in touch.

** Please do not move to airchecks board. I already posted there & I'm posting here too because there's a good chance locals who typically don't look on the airchecks board may have what I'm looking for. ***

This same guy has been requesting air-checks of Power 106 for years. Just curious..what's up? Are you in search of the ark of the covenant or what? Besides Jay Thomas, they weren't know for personality jocks at that time of the stations life-cycle. Is it the music mix? Just curious. Of course we all have our favorite stations. I see Don Kelly around at conventions, he was the consultant-he likely still has the data.

Was KPWR's morning show crew that bad, that they could'nt hold a candle to Jay Thomas? If anything, it's usually the morning show that has the best talent, or at least equal to any of their non-morning show high profile jocks..

The reason Power 106 was great in the 80's/90's, in my opinion, is that they had a wide variety of music, they didnt pigeon hole themselves with a narrow description of the music like today. They had wide appeal between all demos, and they defenitely were in the streets with the listners, at the clubs, in the offices, at the movie screenings kissin hands and shakin babies.

+1, All though I live in San Francisco, I used to monitor Power 106 playlists in the late 80's/early 90's from Billboard Magazine, and it was VERY similar to KMEL here in San francisco....They would follow Expose with Rodney O, then a non-mainstream club Jam like Stephanie/Cynthia....These stations at the time were heard in major markets only during the late 80's...Small/ medium markets did'nt accept/recieve urban until well into the 90's

i was wondering the same thing.like i said i have tons of old power 106.i dont want to give these tapes away to someone that will make a profet off of them.i would rather put it on youtube so the world can hear.what i believe made that station special back then ,it was fun to listen to.boris and cris club mixes and there station id...whooow!no other station i have ever heard had a station id.and the personalities.mucho, todd parker brenda ross, bill alexander, frank zozano, and who can never forget THE BOOMER!!!!!!!!!!number 1 for years.boomers night jam at 9.i wish some station would see is talent he brings to the airways.you dont hear people like that anymore!

The original Power had a terrific presentation for its time. There was a total concept behind it, and a lot of passion went into it from many talented players and personalities.

Again if you have any airchecks of Power 106 from its first five years, please get in touch and let's see what we can arrange.

Thanks,
Andrew
