What's the deal ??? Jocks sound like they have never worked in radio and the half decent one sounds not even interested in being on the air.
The powers that be over there made a huge mistake by goin after B95 and Q97. Fresno doesnt need another Urban...shoulda went after Mega or Jack...easier targets and there is a huuuuge hole in Fresno radio...formatically speaking of course... for someone to DOMINATE Females 25-54.
 
First of all, B95 and Q97 are not Urban stations. There CHR/Rhythmic. And second, Power 106.3 is a Top 40 station. They are filling the void that Y101 left when they flipped to AC format. Get your info correct next time you post something.
 
Let's not forget the most important thing of all... 106.3 doesn't have a Fresno signal.
Who cares what format it is.

and this isn't just a problem on paper... in the real world, it's got a worse signal than KOKO.
Not a Fresno signal... keep dreamin... it'll never do better than a 1 share.

Only hope to save it... become Visalia's #1 Hit Music Station... and own the south valley...

Not by much, just hit's a different part of town....Also, remember these maps don't reflect actual coverage, just theoretical. A longley-Rice map would probably be more helpful.

Yeah I forgot that rap and mix shows dont qualify as urban....hahaha pataaatoe patahtoe...now shut up and get your facts straight before you try to correct ME...Y101 is a HOT AC !!! Y101 didn't really leave a void because they had no real ratings. As much as I liked Danny P and the rest of the crew, they just didnt have the punch.

You are correct, not "cold" ...but just an AC station. Y101 is playing more contemporary music and therefore, makes it a "Hot AC". Y101 is nowhere near Top 40 format neither is it an AC.

Actually, Y-101 as a CHR/Pop station sounded a lot like 107.9 The End in Sacramento, or KHOP Modesto. As a Hot A/C or plain mainstream A/C it sounds totally different. It also didn't fail in the ratings as it usually commanded a 3-4 shares.Get your facts straight next time you start posting like a troll.

Since when is Rod Stewart contemporary? Trust me, Y101 is an AC station. When you go from Phil Collins to Rod Stewart to Jewel, you aren't "Hot" anything.

Have you actually listened to the station? Or are you basing your ill informed comments on their positioning statement? Y101 used to be Top 40. Before that they were KVSR, Star 101, an actual Hot AC. They are now AC. Go listen to the station and figure it out.

I ahve sampled it a few times and I have to say that it isnt too hot for a Hot AC but I didnt fall asleep so it isnt an AC. Now, you categrization may be different, but I am telling you that it is not a typical AC, not in the least. AC isnt geared toward the 25-54 fems, rather it is more for the 44 plus crowd.
 
I agree Ken...Power should have went 80's 90's...I am telling you , if someone would hop on that format and do it right, it would kill in 25-54 fems. NOONE is servicing the 80's and 90's and those who say they are are not doing it properly. They are playing the same crappy 3 songs from Phil Collins and Madonna that were burnt many years ago...step into some Depeche Mode and some Thompson Twins sprinkled with some hair band classics and keep it upbeat, stay away from the ballads and slow sappy love songs, and the women will flock to it.
 
the closes to hot AC is 96.7 KALZ, Y101 is more closer to 98.9 KSOF with a with the same repeated music,so I they are slow A/C ,there sould be more modern 80's & 90's The Cure ,The clash,Phycedelic furs ,REM, @OMD.
