POWER 1075 returning back to Urban?

So while I've been all hype about Mix 1079, looks like Power is losing the rhythmic feel and going back towards it's hip-hop roots. Maybe "datfireman" and some of the other Urban fans on this board have finally spoke loud enough.

I don't see any Gaga, Timbaland, Timberlake, Ke$ha or BEP in their playlist AT ALL. The closest to Rhythmic I see is Rihanna and her new one, Rude Boy, doesn't really sound pop. I've also seen some good Urban gold added such as "Back And Forth" by Aaliyah, "Get Money" by Junior MAFIA, "Hot Boyz" by Missy Elliott, plus good urban recurrents. I think J.D. Kunes has Power sounding pretty good actually! I see it getting better this year. Just last year I posted and R-Info made a headline about Power going to Rhythmic. Sounds like that didn't last long. They're currently the #1 FM station in the city with a current 8.2! (up from a 7.6) - However, that's with the rhythmic format. Sounds like they grabbed some of WNCI's listeners in that book. The BIG question is, will the urban format work? Is J.D. Kunes just experimenting?

Thoughts?

JD always did a great job with Hot 102.9 in Dayton. I always thought it leaned more Urban during his tenure than Rhythmic. Since he's left you don't hear much if any R&B anymore...although that station has leaned more Rhythmic than ever in the past year or so.

Now, they just need to redo the morning show. I'm sorry but I think it just sucks. Not really wanting to listen to Big Man Konata for 8 hours a day. Paul is just lame. However, I'm not the ones paying the bills. ;D

I'm sure the reason JD left 1029 is because of Main Line taking over. However, the strong rhythmic lean is because of Z93 leaving the market and Scott Sharp (old PD of Z93) taking over the music. It's a pretty repetitive rhythmic, but what do I know?

As far as mornings go on 107, they sure do need to figure out what to do about Konata being in the morning show AND again in middays. It sounds pretty bad to me. I'm sure they can get SOMEONE to do middays. If anything, bring someone over from Magic.

Yeah, JD left E. David Rd. when Mainline took over. I'm guessing he wanted to stay with Radio One?
That may be a good reason that Hot is so Rhythmic.
Hey, at least someone is on in middays on Power...Hot never filled the vacancy in middays when Angel O'Shea was moved to WROU after Mainline wrongly dumped Bob Summers.

Maybe they should put Nia Noelle on middays 10-3 and then hire Maxwell for the 3-7 slot that used to work on WNCI? Then replace the PMC with Russ Par in the mornings. I know they play Russ for a couple of hours on Saturday mornings. ???
