So while I've been all hype about Mix 1079, looks like Power is losing the rhythmic feel and going back towards it's hip-hop roots. Maybe "datfireman" and some of the other Urban fans on this board have finally spoke loud enough.
I don't see any Gaga, Timbaland, Timberlake, Ke$ha or BEP in their playlist AT ALL. The closest to Rhythmic I see is Rihanna and her new one, Rude Boy, doesn't really sound pop. I've also seen some good Urban gold added such as "Back And Forth" by Aaliyah, "Get Money" by Junior MAFIA, "Hot Boyz" by Missy Elliott, plus good urban recurrents. I think J.D. Kunes has Power sounding pretty good actually! I see it getting better this year. Just last year I posted and R-Info made a headline about Power going to Rhythmic. Sounds like that didn't last long. They're currently the #1 FM station in the city with a current 8.2! (up from a 7.6) - However, that's with the rhythmic format. Sounds like they grabbed some of WNCI's listeners in that book. The BIG question is, will the urban format work? Is J.D. Kunes just experimenting?
Thoughts?
