Power 92.3??

While driving on westbound I-10 near Beltway 8 today and scanning the FM dial, my radio stopped on 92.3. The imaging said "Power 92 point 3" which is about all I got before I lost the signal. I know there is a Phoenix and a Chicago Power 92.3, is it possible that I "tropo'd" (I believe that's the term all the smart guys on the board use :) one of these stations or is there another that's closer that I don't know about?

That's exactly what happened; more than likely you were hearing Power 92.3 out of Phoenix. I'm in San Antonio and was listening to 98KUPD out of Tempe/Phoenix on my truck about 4:00 Central.

E-layer propagation to the west will bring Arizona stations into Houston as the distance vs. reflection angles are just right. I've heard Phoenix and Tucson during a number of band openings in the past. Also have heard El Paso (also on 92.3), El Centro, CA and Mexicali, BCN.

E-layer propagation to the east will bring central and south Florida FM's into Houston.
