POWER 96.1 DEBUTS 'EVOLUTION', SUNDAYS AT 9PM.

Hosted by international DJ Pete Tong. Features the week's Top 5 Dance/Electro songs, some new and upcoming tracks as well as guest remixes. Never in my wildest dreams would I think this would be on terrestrial in Atlanta. And needless to say I am LOVING IT! But, will it last?

Thoughts?

Being that it is a top 40 station that should at least get acceptable ratings by default, I feel like they wouldn't consider evolution to be too big of a risk, especially if it's once a week. Sounds more interesting than the Hollywood Hamilton Remix top 30 in some ways. That starts at 9 here on KMVA. Well, I think. I have to see if it will air tonight since KMVA has begun to slightly change things around. But as far as Power, I doubt they'd get rid of it anytime over the summer at the least. I feel like if anything, they will ADD ON to that by doing something very late nights on either Saturday or Friday, around 2am (I guess that's technically the next day).

Show must only be an hour long. By the time I tuned in it was done. ClearChannel has put full 24/7 Evolution stations in some cities so I doubt they'd be too fearful of a one hour show, even in Atlanta. It should be ok as long as the dance sound remains popular and mainstream in top 40 and I think there are probably enough people hearing top 40 in Atlanta to know that the electro dance sound is big right now.

Yeah, it's only from 9 to 10. I would think it would've run for a couple of hours. But, man...they played a brand new track by KNIFE PARTY (more hardcore than Skrillex).
At times it almost sounded like Alternative had returned to 96-1! Lol. But, bottom line is, on a Sunday night, the show should be on from like, 11-Midnight......IMO.
