Power 96.1 WKLS Atlanta Project 9-6-1 Atlanta WKLS 105.3 El Patron WBZY Wild 105.7 96.7 WWVA WWLG ESPN DeportesUpdate 8/29: 96.1 WKLS will flip to CHR as “Power 96.1“. Power961.com was registered earlier this week and currently features a full site for “Atlanta’s New Hit Music Station”. The current occupant of 96.1, Alternative “Project 9-6-1” which we expect to relocate to 105.3, is promoting what can best be described as “a sad announcement” at 7:20 Thursday morning.

i know your preference is 70's oldies, but i thought you also liked mainstream chr. it wasn't so long ago that you posted that you enjoyed the music mix on my 'net station "hot hits atlanta."

power 96.1 should be pretty close to that.

I do and definitely can get in to some of the retro sounding dance beats like I remember at Backstreet, those were the days..
 
Is all this a hoax or what's going on? I guess I need to log in more often because I'm just confused now. I saw Power's playlist and it's as close to chr as ever! Despite the fact that there is no top 40 hip hop in there at all. Wow... I really don't know what to say. Gotta call my friend and tell him about this because I'm sure he doesn't know. He would never NOT tell me this news...

This is nothing new. It's been happening for a couple years now in various market and format section discussions. Just a few months back there were multiple "Oldies" posts and multiple "news talk radio" posts. Of course, with something as unheard of as a new chr in Atl., the temptation to make multiple threads will exist. Let there be a birth of a new AC station and I bet there will be multiples of those as well.

On another note, I'm sort of wondering what will happen to WiLD because I can already see what Power 96.1 is trying to do and what will happen once they successfully surpass Q100. I would be surprised if WiLD sticks around long term with Power. It probably would've been best to just put WiLD on 96.1 and slightly shift the format since WiLD has already been proven to work. But I guess a somewhat conservative Power will work, too.
