Power 96 (HD-DANCE)(plays long versions)

Now that the new Power 96-2 is streaming, what are some thoughts? Why are they playing the (LONGEST) versions of songs they can find, instead of playing radio edits? Im not too sure that playing these 10 minute songs, is going to help Dance grow, with a new audience. A 5 or 6 minute song is OKAY once in a while, but they are playing 10 and 12 minute long mixes. It may not be what I would do, But you gotta give em props to be the first US dance outlet to have the Balls to do that. Maybe they are just trying to reach Hardcore Dance fans with the longer mixes. IN case you missed it, RyanCA posted the Backdoor Link to the 64k stream, several posts down, on the other Power 96 thread. Thanks Ryan.

Well, I havent heard any more 12 minute songs, since that one, and they are playing just about everything. Moby-Lift me up....Audio Bulleys...Shot you down.. Everything that the FM stations should play, but arent. Even playing songs I dont know, Which is really weird for Terrestrail Dance RADIO, playing a song that (MWC) dont know. IM surprised know one has mentioned anything about it yet, but maybe since its just HI-DEF, sub Channel, its no big deal to most of you guys, which I can understand.

5-6 minute songs: Believe it or not... TRUE, Die Hard EDM fans like the "club" versions better. They dont like how radio chops songs up. This station is for the hardcore miami club kid. In Miami, everybody goes out clubbing, so this is nothing new to them. Cough Cough Party 93-1.

but they are playing 10 and 12 minute long mixes.

12 minutes is too long. It could be intentionally or on accident who knows. But a lot of the hardcore stuff dont have radio edits, so they may leave it just as it is, without chopping them down... or a few songs here and there might have slipped in their playlist without them realizing they were 12 minutes.. Im sure we will see what they do about these later on.

One thing they need to watch out for.. Trance is DEAD in Miami and I am hearing a lot of trance on this station... This may turn a lot of listeners away... Remember, this station is for the Miami crowd.. not internet radio crowd.

From what I have heard... the more mainstream type songs (such as Motorcycle), they are playing the radio edits, and the more hardcore stuff, they are playing the full version (probably because a lot of the mixes dont have radio edits).

Also, Im sure once they kick everything into high gear, they will come up with a script to automatically post the current songs playing to their media player and webpage.

My only complaint about the internet radio side of it... their sign up process was rough because the inline frame does not fit in the window..and that might throw a few new potential listeners off... other than that, this is going to kick ass IMO.
______________

Does anyone know what the URL of the stream is? For some reason, it won't
play on Windows 98SE.
______________
