When we used to drive across the Alligator Alley to Miami, we would listen to Party 93.1 because Miami is a club city and that station was the closest thing to what the people were looking for. Unfortunately, they took the top40 approach so everytime someone turned on Ian Van Dahl they wanted to put their head through the windshield.
Everything I have heard in the last hour has been upbeat and real - and by that they are not taking an old madonna song and putting a bed behind it. The audio quality sounds as good as any FM dance radio station I have heard.
The fun thing about this station is that they are not constrained to some dumbass consultants "play the hits" mentality. I have heard trance, modjo (lady - which I really could have done without) NERD, and the Kelly Osbourne "One Word" smash.
As far as the "Party 93.1 did not work because there are no DJ's" While they do help if they are solid jocks stations in europe with thousands of slammin tracks on their playlists have no problem. The idea that we have to play the same songs over and over and drill them into the listeners head leads to boredom and frustration in the dance community.
So far all dance and upbeat top40 - no rap or hip hop whatsoever. My only gripe is the lack of imaging but that could be coming.
Props to Beasley for filling a hole in arguably the dance music capital of the United States. This station is fun to listen to!
