Great station, live and local,, good hip hop and stuff that other stations dont play,, good mixshows, and even dance friendly at times, but they need to drop their Slow Jams at night,,, its a party station, not an urban AC.
 
Power 96 is one of the best Rhythmics in America. Was down on South Beach a few weeks ago enjoying the station. You are right about that Slow Jamz show. They should get rid of it. Does WEDR (99Jamz) have a Slow Jamz show?
 
I dont know about WEDR but I prefer Power cause it plays alot of music other stations wont play, and its quick on new Hip Hop,,, plus it plays a Dance Track and dance mixshows ever so often, so Power 96 Miami and B-96 Chicago are my favorite Mainstream Rhythmics,,, But my favorite Urban Hip Hop stations are Hot 93.7 in hartford, and 102 Jamz in Greensboro NC... My least favorite of all rhythmics are KQKS Denver, Wild 107.5 in Portland,, 95.5 The Beat Atlanta, and Hot 98.1 in Carolina.. Wild 107.5 they should have stayed Jammin,, Jammin was dope back in the day when it was on. I also like the new 92.5 The Box in Charleston cause Z 93 Jamz sucks.. I do miss 94.3 The Beat in Charleston from about 10 years ago,, was edgy on hip hop, no R&B or POP,, but wasnt afraid to play a dance version of a Hip Hop song at times. Wild 96.7 in Atlanta was a short lived good station too,, The Beat sucks and should play newer hip hop and mix in some Dance,,, how can they manage to compete with Hot 107.9 and V-103, Im surprised the BEYOT has lasted this long.. Another bad one is Power 95.3 in Orlando, they should have kept the dance and Hip Hop mixture, cause they arent edgy enough to be a real hip hop station..

But back to Power 96,, they play album cuts that no other station will touch,, heard songs from LIL Wayne, TI and Gucci that havent even been released,, and they have a cool Reggea ESC remix of Rhianna-Rude Boy,, although I wish GO HARD would have been the bigger hit, Rude Boy is a bit annoying.. And Power 96 even has a dance song in their top 3, and about 4 dance tracks in the their top 20.. I could do without Justin Beiber and stuff,, but I guess I have to listen to a pure Urban to avoid this annoying preteen.. I admit the Breakbeat Production on Baby is really good, and I like Luda's rap, but I just dont like his sissy voice.
 
102 Jamz/Greensboro and Hot 93.7/Hartford are my two favorite Hip-Hop stations too (in that order). 102 Jamz is quick to jump on new songs. The best in the nation when it comes to new Hip-Hop and Hip-Hop flavored R&B. Hot 93.7 is my hometown station (born and raised in Hartford). PD DJ Buck runs a tight ship. Love the Mixers (the Dream Team).
 
Im listening too as well,, the slow jams air on sundays only I think.. This is Power 96 Afterhours,, Good Mixes of Dance and Hip Hop. I always play Power 96 at work,, I work without alot of Hispanics and Cubans who moved up here from South Florida,, so it makes them feel at home. Im second in charge at work, but im the cool boss,, I dont disrespect the workers, and I always have their back if they screw up,, when the CEO comes in once a month or so, we have to listen to Oldies or country.... Which I dont mind, but I need my Rhythmic jamz to keep me going for these ever so often 36 hr shifts.. I dont mind working and the pay is good, so im not complaining,, Im a single male with no kids, so its ok.I let the people with families go home and pick up their slack, cause im the cool boss.
