Power 96 wpow

I am completely amazed at the amount this rhythmic station plays on Friday nights!

They do have a bit of dance in a few mixshows during the week when they aren't playing their "normal" pop, r&b, and hip hop, but when they broadcast live from the club on Friday nights, it's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY! I'm actually listening right now as I type and I have no idea what I'm listening to!

In other words, they are playing things that aren't mainstream. I was thinking "what the heck" when I first tuned in about an hour ago to hear "I like to move it move it" but I knew from past listening experience it would get much better. Well right now they just flipped into playing some old school Judy Torres "there's no reason to cry", which followed "because of you" by Cover Girls, but a lot of the house they were playing was incredible! If only the same thing could be done in the west coast during a live club broadcast.. 101.5 JamZ is about to broadcast live from the club in less than ten minutes and I can guarantee that NO house will be played at all. If anything, maybe a few latin house songs quick mixed if they play Pitbull and really get into it, but it will quickly be brought back to hip hop. I don't know how Power 96 gets by with some of the things they say, BROADCASTING LIVE FROM A CLUB, WHILE ALSO ON THE AIR! They don't just play the dance, but they also put in some odd stuff like "everybody's free" by Rozalla and other things similar to that!

I wish we had a station like Power 96 - and I mean being similar ALSO WHEN IT COMES TO THE MIX SHOWS! A Power 96, B96 WiLD 106.1, WiLD 94.9, or even Power 106 type station would be ok. Well let me just be thankful NOW because things could be worse without 101.5 JamZ. I wish I was bilingual and spoke fluent spanish and enjoyed latin hits as much as I did a few years back because then I'd have the perfect station 95.1 KVIB to enjoy!

WOW! Now they are playing "I would like to get to know you" by Sasha LIVE FROM THE CLUB!!!

I remember EVERYTIME I played that song in a club here in Phoenix, EVERYBODY would go sit down as if there was a secret session of musical chairs going on that I wasn't aware of! No matter how good my hip hop or reggae set was, same results when I played it!

Maybe I am the one in the wrong place that needs to move...

KDM some citys are more open to dance than others.... Bloomington Indiana is not a big city at all, and its a college town, but we have Mars Nightclub, and Night Moves, amoung others, and they play all dance every weekend, and your lucky to get in if you dont arive early.

They must be open to everything in Miami - a lot more than I thought because I heard just about everything during that live broadcast! Last times I didn't listen to the entire show, but tonight, not only did they go through genre's, they actually spent time on separate genre sets!

To conserve time, I'll just go through the genre's they missed, and only thing they basically missed in the english language was pretty much opera, jazz, and rock.

ALL that music they played would've NEVER worked here on one station. Then they stopped from one club and went right to the next! Then it seems like almost everytime I listen to a Power 96 mixshow, they seem to always play the crookers mix of "day 'n' night" as the first song after the mix is done. All meanwhile I had 101.5 JamZ playing in the background, just loud enough to detect an uptempo beat if it happened, and I could count the amount of uptempo hits they played above 125 bpm live from the club with one hand. Only one had a house styled beat, and it was by Pitbull.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the stuff I play on Dance Party Radio now would work in a mixshow on one of hour rhythmic / top 40 stations.
