Power 98.3 on Saturday

Well, I'm not sure what's going on, but after all my listening to Power 106 and some of B96, I tuned in to my local stations at 9 once our mixshows started up. I had it on KZZP first to begin with, then KZON a bit, then moved to Power and noticed something a bit odd. Although a lot of stuff was repeated, they very hardly ever played anything slow for the next three hours starting from 10p Saturday night. So yes, if you check yes.com. "what you know about that" by TI is that one slow song they played, since they transferred from the club style remix to the original right before the one commercial they had every thirty minutes. I'm not too sure how many commercials they played the entire night because I unfortunately fell asleep during a good portion of the Saturday night mix period, but woke up enough times throughout the mix to see that it was all uptempo club styled hits since 10pm. I see Evermore, Daft Punk, and Bob Sinclair are becoming Saturday night regulars, and Kevin Rudolph "shooting star" Party Rock remix is getting a lot of play. I don't get why so many songs (or probably even entire mixes) were repeated, but something is definitely going on as the entire Power 98.3 situation continues to unfold behind the scenes. Lets see what this leads to..

How nice it could be if we got a Power 96 type station in Phoenix, but with KZON in its present state, that is very likely not to happen. KZON seems to perfectly have that format that will block out any other rhythmic from having any chance at all because they are right down the middle of the road between urban and top 40, leaning very closely to top 40, and being right on the verge of almost playing actual dance hits. Any station similar to B96 or Power 96 would immediately be blocked out by KZZP and KZON in their present state, even if we lost Power 98.3 or Movin 97.5 or 95.1 Latino Vibe or Smooth Jazz 95.5...etc. I guess the only way we could successfully sneak something (a station featuring dance hits) with a relatively unique sound of its own into Phoenix radio would to bring in a full on Party 101.5/105.3 type station, since it does feature a lot of stuff that KZON and KZZP don't play normally. If anything, it would be great if KMVA became the "Party Station" of Phoenix! KZON is sounding like it's in the very beginning states of prepping to slightly tweak more towards an urban sound... but the keyword in there being "slightly". It doesn't help that a few dumb hip hop songs with lyrical quality being absent were recently released, became hits, and are being picked up heavily on rhythmic radio.

Anyway... I just wonder, if and when Power 98.3 does change, I wonder who will pick up the Electro Hip Hop Show? I know a few places it SHOULD pop up, but.. will those places pick it up? It's already obvious from past experiences that other present stations will get the feed off from some of the old Power employees. Question is; which ones?

Once again, we're at that stage where ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.... (in Phoenix).
