Power efficiency (or inefficiency) in FM IBOC operation

A new report prepared for the NAB's "Fastroad" program by the engineering firm of Cavell, Mertz and Associates discusses power efficiency in transmitter plants. The section about FM is on pages 11-18 of this PDF:
http://www.nabfastroad.org/PowerEfficientBroadcastFacilityTransmissionDesign.pdf

It talks about the compromises in efficiency that hybrid operation, which precludes Class C operation of transmitter finals, requires. It's must reading for "HD" defenders.

Of course, it's nothing new. Bob Savage, Play Freebird and I have discussed these problems here in the past.
