KZON/Phoenix is expected to end stunting within the hour and flip to rhythmic as "101.5 JamZ."

Sounds like a winner... so far, nothin' but hits... solid imaging. Right in the middle of KZZP and Power... should do VERY well.

Bruce St. James, program director for KEDJ-FM (103.9) and KKFR-FM (98.3), said the move to a hip-hop format has been common knowledge in the radio industry for the past few days. He's not worried about another station entering KKFR's territory.

“What are they going to do?” he asks. “Play more hip-hop than us? Really, I think we'll be OK.”

Power's signal is the weakest signal I've ever heard, that's what. KZON has the advantage in that they cover all of Phoenix, it's suburbs, and you can pick them up easily in parts of Tucson. Power you are lucky to get 10 miles from the tower.

I agree. Although I see both stations taking a hit come the next rating period from KZON's entry into the Top 40 race, I don't see KKFR or KZZP raising the white flags yet. Don't forget that Phoenix is no stranger to having more than 2 Top 40s, let alone 3 (or if KNRJ is a factor, 4), in the market.
