Are you serious? Is this really worth a dicussion? So what. Who cares.

If you think no one cares, then why did you even bother responding?

Anyway...while Jamz may think that they are going after Power, I really think that it's Kiss that will have a noticeable audience decline. Analysis of the three stations' playlists from last week (see below) indicates that Jamz shares 21 songs with Power & 16 songs with Kiss (and 10 songs are common between all three stations.) However, the way the music "flows" on Jamz makes it seem like more of an alternative to Kiss than it does to Power. In addition, the imaging on Jamz seems that it would appeal more to a Kiss listener; Power's imaging is much more "street", for lack of a better term.

The biggest difference between Kiss and Jamz lies in the other songs they play; while Kiss offers Carrie Underwood, Maroon 5, Pink, and Avril Lavigne, Jamz features a surprisingly high number of rhythmic recurrents and even some favorites from the mid-to-late 90's. And this is why I think Movin' may also find itself in trouble (as if it already isn't). Many of their currents and some of their recurrents are found on Jamz. Jamz even plays some 90's selections that Movin' SHOULD be playing (KP and Envyi's "Shorty Swing My Way" comes to mind first.)

Below are links to all four stations' playlists (currents and recurrents only) -

On a somewhat related note: sometime last week, I swear I heard "Sweet Home Alabama" next to a classic Snoop Dogg song on Power's 8:30am mixshow. I don't know how Lynard Skynard even remotely fits on Power (this was especially shocking how critical Bruce St. James is of CHR stations that play anything besides hip-hop and R&B), but I love both songs, but I cannot complain.

Sorry, I meant to include the word "considering" after "shocking" in that last paragraph. (The system says that my time limit for editing posts has passed.)

I don't care for either.

And Jamz is after both. Power because of their weak signal. Kiss because of their playlist.

If they are going after Kiss as much as Power - I'm surprised we haven't heard any on-air jabs at Kiss yet. Maybe they are counting on Kid & Ruben to take care of that (and rightfully so, IMHO).

Speaking of on-air jabs, the Jamz Mac-vs-PC parody promo seemed to stop as soon as Power debuted its own version of it.

Something I forgot to mention earlier: while there are 21 songs shared between Jamz and Power...five of Power's top 10 songs from last week (including their #1 song - "Rock Yo Hips" by Crime Mob, which received 98 plays) are not heard on Jamz (or at least not enough to be shown on those charts.) This is another reason why Power sounds much more "street" than Jamz.

I agree. And I have a feeling that the two reasons alone will work in KZON's favor come the next Arbitron book.

Jamz should be able to easily beat up on Power, with their weaker signal. To compete with KZZP, however, it will come down to programming... Maybe they're afraid to go after someone their own size? It's like the bully on the playground who only beats up younger kids.

I, for one, am rooting for Power, but it will be a tough fight.

That's because they don't want to sound like Power. They don't want to sound like Kiss either. They're about 50/50 of each sound and that's a good place to get SMACKED. I'd say they're on the levels of Kiss FM Los Angeles as far as their playlist.
