OK, I know there has been a lot of talk about Power 107 and WNCI lately. I have brought this up before a very long time ago. What Columbus needs is a 24-HR dance station. Example, BPM on channel 36 Sirius/81 XM. With a very high gay population here in Columbus local and national companies would advertise with the station because it is known through studies that the gay population spend money more than the average person.
When I worked for Power 107 from 2001-2004 I suggested to Paul Long (aka Paul Strong) that 107 should look at a mix of Hip-Hop/R&B/Dance format. We discussed this at a broadcast event at the Haunted Hoochie. I believe we where sitting in the Power 107 Ford Explorer while we discussed it. Paul did not seem interested about my idea at the time. He told me to do some research and give it to him for review and he changed the subject. That told me there he was not interested in such an idea.
Oh, not to change the subject but it was the same evening that a teenager came up to Paul while he was sitting in the truck and the teenager was making comments to Paul when all of the sudden Paul jumped out of the truck and started beating on the kid. A crowd formed as I pulled Paul away from the kid before he was arrested. After that time, I did some thinking about who I was working for and soon I quit Power 107 because the man that everyone likes is not whol he is. He is hot tempered and thinks he owns everything and not willing to listen to others for ideas. He just thinks for himself and not others. Another example is when I was sitting in on the morning show he lost his temper off the air with Konata and Tiffany King (no longer there). Used profanity while he was yelling at them. Didn't even care if I was there observing this. (I HAD TO SHARE THIS BECAUSE EVERYONE THINKS HIGHLY OF PAUL. HOW GOOD HE IS. NO ONE HAS SEEN HIS DARK AND HOT TEMERPED SIDE.)
Now back to the subject. I think Power should flip their format to the one I said. What do you think of that kind of format here in Columbus?
