Wondering if there will ever come an end to hip-hop's immature spelling of common words wiff da rong lettahs. I'm not a fan of hip-hop, so my critique is biased, but it seems to me to be a form of music that doesn't grow and mature as others do. I keep hoping that it will prove to be the disco of my generation; a crappy fad that too many people bought into, that lasted too long, and left nothing of value to posterity. Don't some of these broadcast professionals feel a little silly affecting that street-wise hip-hop persona? There's a radio spot running with Mark Schlereth in the v.o. where he says something like, "buy this big screen, my bruthas", and it's sounds painfully out of place coming from someone who doesn't really talk like that. Hey, if you're a fourteen year old Compton native who slings dope and the 5-0 shot your brother, etc...please, by all means, take a free hand to your consonants. But the rest of us, can we stop the madness? Yea-yah, boyeee!
