So, the PPM data is out for Houston and Philly. I suppose I could do the research myself, but I'm entirely too lazy for that.

Has anyone looked at the ratings info? Are there any glaring jumps or declines at individual stations using the new system against what they did in the last diary-based data?
 
I wonder which station will be the first to utilize the pet population for PPM.
Littlejohn posted, on another R-I board, that there is nothing to stop someone from attaching a PPM to the family pet, for added TSL.
Imagine the promotion possibilities. How will radio get PPM's on moving objects? Which station will be the #1 Pet station?
Dogs- WKHX and Hot 107.9
Cats- Star94 and V103
Iguanas- DAVE and 99X
Gerbils - Album88 and WREK
Horses - Eagle and V103
Pot belly pigs - AM750 and 1380WAOK
Praying mantis - any Salem station

Does this mean the parakeet population goes for WSB-A and the ferret pop is #1 with WCFO?
 
None of the methodology can be perfect, but this measurement system is probably more accurate than the age old diary method. The PPM measures the exposure to signal/broadcast; whatever it "hears", it records. Many of the bigger markets, (ATL included), takes into account HDBA & HDHA, (Heavily Dense Black/Hispanic Areas) designed to give minority focused stations equal footing with the rest of the playing field. While this system will still be in place, the exposure to signals will be more accurate. Back in the 90's, the Accuratings used the same frequency measurement and the Urban stations didn't fare well back then either. While it's not perfect, I believe it's a step in the right direction. (IMHO)

Rock is back!

KODA - Soft Rock 5.3
KRBE - Top 40 5.2

KLTN - Spanish 8.3
KBXX Urban 7.5
KRBE Top 40 6.9
KLOL Spanish 6.3

The diary system failed to record most men 18-34.

My prediction: A new resurgence in rock formats/music due to the PPM reflecting young, affluent white/hispanic males.
Result: a quick, painful death to the dominance of HIP HOP/Rap music. It will become the next 80's niche.
 
I think this will mostly correct the Atlanta ratings... I even seriously believe that WGST and WNNX will get a huge bump.
 
Does this mean we'll have a new twist on an old cliche: "How will this affect Dave FM?"

Seriously, I think this'll prove they've got more listeners out there than just me.
