The only other thing I could think of would be some kind of country/rock hybrid, I think that was tried on 96.9 back when it was WTDR but it didn't do well.
Thunder Country, 1990.

Incidentally, WBRF in Galax, VA is doing something like that during the 5:00 hour. I heard someone say they played Lynyrd Skynyrd. I hear that station when I go to Winston-Salem and I like it a lot since they got rid of the new stuff. A lot of people like it.

Why can't charlotte have a gen x station or maybe active rock? 106.5 doesn't have a very good signal anyway and it would be nice to see another rock station in charlotte.

Active Rock was on 95.7 in the early 2000s and failed pretty badly (against 106.5 The End) - The 106.5 signal is strong, it's just centered north of the metro for some reason (I think cause Greensboro doesn't have an Alt. station)

How about a 3rd country station? Charlotte is a huge country market. Not too many markets have country at #1 and #2.

106.5 moved closer to Charlotte before but it is short spaced to 106.7 in the Columbia, SC market (actual COL is Orangeburg). I guess there isn't much more they can do to improve the signal, it is as good as it can be (maybe they could get a translator in the SC part of the market?).

I doubt a 3rd country station since the two big groups already have one each, and both are doing well. Hard to see Radio One doing it.

The only real money maker and market sharker would be for Dave to transform The Ride into a Classic Hits station .. with the right programming and certainly the right manager this station would have the right to print money! The market is desperate for a CH's station and it certainly fits the demographics that have the cash to buy anything. Recently read some very informative information regarding the 35-64 demo. WAKE UP Dave, time is ticking.
