PPM's in SEPT

The publicly released 6+ numbers show WSB #1 in the market for the month, followed by V, Magic, Kiss and B98.
ALL NEWS checks in at #19.
25-54 Top 10 Market rankers look this way:
V
River
B 98
Magic
Q
WSB
KIss
KIcks
Hot
Bull

WRDA at #11
Star #12
ROck #18
ALL NEWS #21

The only things of note (besides WSB AM/WSBB #1) are Star and Power 96 having their worst books in a while (3.4 and 3.0 respectively), Patron with a 2.6 (!), AN with its highest yet at 1.9, Z-90Game ditto at 0.9, TOC up to a 0.3 from a 0.1 as The Walk, and WGST bringing up the rear with a 0.1.

I should have noted that all the CHR stations were down, not just Power 96 and Star, although Power 96 and Star are affected more than Q100.

Kicks is up, Bull is down, and Praise keeps sliding down.

What's going on at PRAISE 102.5/102.9? They were once the #1 station in Radio One Atlanta's cluster. Now, MAJIC 107.5/97.5 seems to be carrying the cluster. BTW, is 97.5 and 102.9 really needed in the metro area? I read 107.5 was upgraded.

So you folks that stood by ALL NEWS (which have become quiet all of late) - You guys still anticipating a big ratings boom for WYAY? Seems like a horrible station for such a great Atlanta signal.
Maybe cumulus should just can it, make rock 100.5 active rock and throw it on 106.7 which covers Athens and put the oldies station on 100.5.

Athens has no modern rock option (active or alternative) and I think Cumulus could tap into Athens with a modern rock format while still covering metro Atlanta. They just got to go full throttle active rock first.

I am still a supporter of an All News Format for Atlanta. IMHO CBS should have gone All News or Oldies (they do both very well in other large markets) on 92.9 but corporate directives forced sports on 92.9. 106.7 is doing better than the Houston All News Radio One operation. IIRC The successful All News operations in other cites have a least a decade head start. Now if 106.7 doesn't improve in four or five years then Cumulus has missed read the market. CBS's Washington All News WNEW has had a slow start too:

Some will blame signal issues, but CBS knows it take time to build the trust an All news operation has to have, especially when going against a ratings / revenue monster like WTOP. Cumulus is going against an operation (WSB / WSB TV, AJC) that for decades has being the dominate News source in the market. This will not be easy. Personally I would add Tom Hughes (former WGST) to help with mornings. He has experience dealing with WSB.

Since I am realigning stations with out ownership's consent, While driving up 515 while 97.1 was having technical issues, I "rediscovered" KZ 106 from Chattanooga. IMHO Cumulus should use WSKZ's playlist on 100.5 except for the canned John Boy and Billy show and really mess with 97.1.

So you are telling me that an All News format should be given a 4 or 5 year stretch before canning it if ratings don't improve? You are saying that a 1.8 share for a station on a strong signal such as 106.7 is sufficient for the first 3 or so years?

I'm not buying that at all. Time will tell but again - I'm just not buying it.

KZ 106 is classic rock and their playlist is different from most Cumulus classic rock playlist because I think they held their playlist after the take over from it's previous owners.

KZ 106 is the second best classic rock station in this country .... K-SHE 95 out of St. Louis is the best though.

Remember, 97.1 The River is a classic HITS station. They play the top hits. They don't dig deep. Jethro Tull, YES, King Crimson, and other more deeper bands from the 70s were never really gold based so The River really doesn't like playing them.

Rock 100.5 played with a deeper classic rock sound for a few months with no improvement in ratings. Atlanta is a hit based town. That's why all the radio station playlists are so small and selective.

All Cloud company has to do is "clone" the "second best classic" rocker in the nation and watch the money roll in. Would you pass 97.1? Who knows? But I am sure Cumulus would do better than Rock 100 is doing now. That was suppose to be one of the strengths of the national radio chains owing 100's of stations, what ever you flip a station too the company should have several successful stations doing the same thing. Pick the best parts and run with it.

Wow. Radio 105.7 took a bit of a drop. Just a blip on the radar or are people no longer sampling and sick of the same ol' tired playlist.

Ummm, seems like I predicted NEWS would overtake WVEE, but others did not think that would ever happen.

Yes, I'm back. Where have I been.......see thread in Dance......if you wanna find out.
