PR&E Tomcat cart machines

As I'm sure you know, they're quite different. The players mount three to a rack side by side. The recorder takes the entire rack. We used them from S/N 9 or so until they went out of production. If memory serves, the last recorders we bought were around or just under 7 grand. With the exception of timing errors (you just can't get the same flutter spec off endles tape that you can off a pair of reels) they're every bit the equal of anyone's reel tape machine. We ran them 15 i.p.s using AAs with high output tape in matrix mode.Worked great. Some of them got enough mileage that we wore the motor armature out on a couple of them. Pacific had a kit consisting of the motor bottom coiver with brushes and the armature.
