Praise 94.9 - Off The Web

Again, I don't know if a format flip is going to happen soon. I heard that the Crescent City Radio Connection is going to do some legwork on the story, though.

However, Praise 94.9's website has disappeared from the web. Completely. Gone.

Could a format change be happening real soon?
______________

Some More - FCC Grants 106.1 Sale

According to the FCC database, they granted the sale of WKSY from Guaranty to Citadel as of Monday (7/11/05). Now it's up to them to close the transaction.

Maybe the reason there hasn't been any format changes yet is because Citadel wanted to wait until the 106.1 sale was complete, and Dowdy agreed to that?

Although I don't think a Praise 106.1 would work at all (there isn't a high percentage of African-Americans on the Northshore), I'm not the one who dictates Citadel's strategy.
______________

agreed. but african americans arent the only people listning to gospel music. i know a lot of white people that do. with amen 940 doing so well i would ditch the format completely due to market saturation.
______________

Big Tymer, According to people on here (who even have worked for him), he is one of the more caring of the owners out there (unless you are one of the twins apparently)and if it means to keep his word by keeping a format on for a month until the owner can transfer it to another location, I think that may be true.

Also look at the signal coverage of 106.1, it will cover basically at the same power into New Orleans proper and NOLA East as 94.9 did... with just the river parishes losing the signal completely and East Jefferson losing some quality. Plus they can try on the northshore where no gospel's really exist other than those coming from New Orleans.

But truthfully 106.1 could be a place holder until 100.3 comes on line or do a dualcast of praise over 106.1 and 100.3... unless they have plans to flip another station to something else.

Smashed, with numbers that were better than 3 Fms last book, and numbers that were impressive (they have dropped down recently for some reason however) I'd say stick with what you got until you've got something better ...that's unless you want another Diva experiment.... There is money to be made doing gospel but only ones I see making a showing at it right now are the big companies.... The other p&w(s) barely make a blip in NOLA.

But Citadel may want to try something else as a search of praise(frequency) didn't turn up anything

i understand. but the main point is amen 940 is the main gospel station in town. praise has been on 2 years i believe. and still hasnt jumped over an am station. about diva. i would hope 2 would be enough. i was really thinking of something country or perhaps some type of top 40 mainstream format. hot ac/ chr pop or maybe even AAA...
______________

Yeah but remember New Orleans... a town that still can't get over K and B being sold! NOLA is a nostalgic town and one of the reasons why 940 gets the numbers is it's been that for years and no one will tune any where else....

Other than a few ads in 2003, There has been almost no advertising of the Citadel Praise stations here in New Orleans ..Hell I haven't really seen any promotion of the cluster save for 106.7 (which knows to hook up with the French Quarter bars) and that's one reason I think numbers have been low..no one knows they were there?!?!?!

I agree on the country or top 40 mainstream. The top 40 however, most people who are into top 40 in NOLA are more into the urban it seems (B97 after 6 months is basically back to it's old playlist style again IMO)... I'd say more Hot A/c like the zone or a country station as you said to take on CC's WNOE as it's basically the only game in town and is number 3 behind the 2 urban stations....

..and what I was saying about a Diva station, Citadel took a chance on the format last year, so far the numbers have been increasing. They may look to try that with another format , you never know........
