Praise for 1580 WVKO

I truly believe if you can criticize someone for poor performance, you should praise them for a job well done. So here goes...I was critical on here about gaffes and blunders for the first two months or so as WVKO 'rebooted' as a 'Progressive Talker' after a four year abscence. But now, I must offer 'roses and bouquets' at the station. With the exception of an occasional 'garbled audio' here and there, they have got their 'stuff' together. In fact, with the exception of my usual sports talk destinations, I find myself listening to them more and more. I seem to stick with Bill Press and Stephanie Miller in the mornings. The local talk on Saturdays is a great addition and the 'Vinyl Vault' on Sunday nights is also a good listen to wind up the weekend.

The local news breaks in the afternoons and mornings have also been informative and well done, though Mr. Gilbow in the mornings may want to take a breath now and then between stories (slow down a little, sir) :). I also enjoy that the station seems to have a focus on local and high school sports coverage.

So kudos to Gary, Michael, Sean and everyone at WVKO as they strive to build a station with a true 'local prescence'....

Michael just mentioned this thread on his Blue State Diner show today on WVKO-AM . He mention
that GM Gary Richards showed him this post on a "chat board". Michael mentioned that this "chat board" usually is pretty harsh on the station, like complaining about how many commercials they play on the air.
Caller Harry then called in to praise the stations progress and corrected Micheal. He told him the
"chat broad" he was referring too is called "Radio-Info.com"
Nice to hear Tim of the Vinyl Vault on today's show. He dose appear to have a wealth of knowledge
on the music he plays on his show and Harry also said likes the Vinyl Vault.

I for one am also bothered/bugged by the occasional 'garbled audio' and sure wish Gary and crew
would somehow remedy this issue at the station once and for all.

I emailed Tim Morris, the host of the 'Vinyl Vault' show. Some of us seem to really like his show. This is what he has to say about this weeks show.

If you get a chance to listen this Sunday, I'll be focusing on the Psychedelic era, roughly 1965-1969.
Thanks again for listening.
Tim
