I truly believe if you can criticize someone for poor performance, you should praise them for a job well done. So here goes...I was critical on here about gaffes and blunders for the first two months or so as WVKO 'rebooted' as a 'Progressive Talker' after a four year abscence. But now, I must offer 'roses and bouquets' at the station. With the exception of an occasional 'garbled audio' here and there, they have got their 'stuff' together. In fact, with the exception of my usual sports talk destinations, I find myself listening to them more and more. I seem to stick with Bill Press and Stephanie Miller in the mornings. The local talk on Saturdays is a great addition and the 'Vinyl Vault' on Sunday nights is also a good listen to wind up the weekend.
The local news breaks in the afternoons and mornings have also been informative and well done, though Mr. Gilbow in the mornings may want to take a breath now and then between stories (slow down a little, sir)
. I also enjoy that the station seems to have a focus on local and high school sports coverage.
So kudos to Gary, Michael, Sean and everyone at WVKO as they strive to build a station with a true 'local prescence'....
