I hear that WRIX-FM 103.1 has been noified about 102.9 being a pirate station......

Were you the notifier?

As for urban704 or whatever your name is, it's not very "Christian" to break the law, and your attitude isn't the most "godly" either. You speak like an annoying Obamatron. Word.

and the FCC will ban anyone with the station from working in radio again! There are LEGAL ways to get the word out!!!

Say what???? quote me an FCC regulation about banning people from working in radio.

Being banned from being a licensee/owner maybe, but banned from being an employee?

The FCC only has the power of civil forfeitures and the seizure of equipment. You'd have to look to the criminal law for fines and jail time and that would be enforced by DOJ.

No, they can't bar you from working for a station. But they can determine that a pirate would be unfit to serve as a licensee.

Agreed.

I see that the Yolonda Adams morning show is gone from their website. I wonder what happened?

My guess: Someone called them and let 'em know. They did some research, found out it was not legit and then sent a command to shut down the satellite receiver. This was followed by a fax or email from their attorney.

Yeah, I don't think syndication would take too kindly to being associated with illegal broadcasting. I wonder how they got access to Ms. Adams' show?

They're still off the air, but I wouldn't be surprised if they come back in a few weeks when they think they're out of the woods.

Rumor has it they got a visit today. More details as I find out. May ride by later today and look for black sedans/suv with lots of antennas.

Wow. I'll be checking their website to see if anything's posted.

Funny how their defenders got so quiet....

You won't see the antennas. They're hidden under a fake fiberglass roof. And I think the SUVs are white now... :D

;D

I also took a look at the web site. On the comments area on the left side, scroll down to number 205.

It states they are in their annual praize-a-thon trying to raise the funds needed for the 'FCC requirments that are due'

::) and/or :eek:

I think they (the FCC) call that a forefiture.

That makes no sense.
Why would a station that can not possibly be licensed (or have the ability to attempt to be) have 'FCC requirements?'

Scam so they can continue to play radio until they're taken down, assuming that hasn't already happened I guess.

Would be too early for a fine/forfeiture. There is a procedure that the FCC follows. There will be a published Notice of Apparent Liability actually imposing the penalty. That's after a formal inquiry and appeals process runs.

Bringing this thread back, because after just visiting Praize 102.9's website, www.praize1029.com,
I just found out that station owner Johnathan Bixby had passed away last month on October 7th.
There are numerous comments & condolences on the station's website.
Apparently he was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer of the right lung, and most recently was diagnosed with liver cancer.
I know there were plenty of people even on this board who knew of him, I thought that everyone should be aware of this news.
