KVOM, Morrilton Sales Manager Harold Nichols is in ICU at the local hospital with pneumonia, an irregular heartbeat and gastroenteritis. He's been there since December 29.
For those who do not know, Harold was a Korean War vet who came home, attended broadcasting school in Memphis on the GI Bill (where he was a contemporary of Johnny Cash) then took a job at his hometown station in Morrilton in 1955. Save a short tenure at KCAB in Dardanelle, he has worked at KVOM since that time. He signed on for 20 years before starting in sales; he broadcast the high school football games for 50 seasons. He's a local legend here, and we're hoping to get a good report. Considering that the station signed on Christmas Day, 1952 and he joined the staff about 28 months after that, it just wouldn't be the same without him!
Thanks!
