Only if Mike drops the variety...
And it wouldn't be 'BCN, it would be Oldies 103-3...

The story a few months ago that mentioned the top billers in Boston also mentioned that BCN has a very high power ratio. Can Infinity move the Patriots to another signal? (notably, 100.7). Because if they could, and when Stern leaves the air, and given that Infinity couldn't care less about heritage, then something could happen, but I'd highly doubt it.

Also, a Infinity JACK in Boston that isn't on 98.5 would go head on with Mix, especially with the Whatever Weekends. Infinity's now having problems in Baltimore where they've got Jack on 102.7 and Mix 106.5, but unlike WWMX, WBMX has essentially been a JACK station 2/7ths of the week. Yet when Infinity flipped Las Vegas to JACK on 100.5, they also left Hot AC station Mix 94.1 in place, though they were not doing Whatever Weekends either. I'm not aware of any other Infinity stations mirror the situation that Mix is in.

Also, now that Entercom has drifted Mike to more of a pure Variety Hits approach (without the bizarre Rhythmic-driven mix that they started with, a JACK fm station would really have direct competition, though I feel that Infinity could pull off a better mix. I really like what I'm hearing on the jack.fm webstream, but if you see WJMK/Chicago or WCBS-FM's playlist, songs like 'Hey Ya' and 'Vertigo' are played a bit in excess. The new KMZQ/Las Vegas seems to be the closest Infinity station so far to mirror the jack.fm stream.

Oldies 103.3 is in a situation like WOMC/Detroit: both are high-rating stations, both have well-known air talent. And both also have imitation JACK fm stations in their markets. Remember the 80's craze, when San Diego had two 80's outlets? Could Infinity put JACK on 104.1 just to make a buzz? Maybe Infinity still would put Jack in Boston, some day. It's still hard to see where the format is headed, whether it is like Jammin' Oldies or whether it will stay for a while. If the format has staying power, then JACK fm will be here, eventually.
