Predictions: 1 year from now

What are y'all predictions for 1 year from now for any radio station(s) across the state?

Well, I believe that Hot 107.7 will have given up on trying to dominate Kiss FM with in the Urban AC format directly but instead become a Mainstream Urban with an adult-leaning playlist to capture the entire 18-40 demo. It will take on Jamz directly but it will make Kiss FM take notice and finally give the Birmingham market its real shake up.

I predict that in Montgomery, Hot 105 will skew its playlist alittle towards the younger end of the demo but retain its quiet storm show and regain its dominance over 97.9 Jamz.

In Huntsville, well most of my predictions have already come to be with the Power 93.3 becoming an Urban AC or an Urban Contemporary. However, I have a feeling that 103.1 WEUP will become repetitive once again because their lack of competition.

my prediction is that Bama Country 98.9 will be twice as successful in the rating as it is currently, i think the numbers show that is proven to be a very successful gamble by bluewater, based upon the numbers from the last time WBAM was a country outlet.
Edited by jaydavenport on 08/13/05 12:31 AM.

I predict that Roscoe Miller will relocate his Montgomery stations, to a more powerful frequency and ditch those two translators that are already there. If he does this, I predict that he will call this new station WKXM.

RDP <><

P.S. WKXN's 107.9 Translator has a very weak signal. I couldn't get them at the Wal-Mart store, on East Blvd, this past Tuesday. Instead, I was able to pick up the more powerful 3700 watt WJAM from here in Selma.

In Bham - I predict that Johnson & Johnson will be gone, WQEN will have excellent numbers, WYSF will be all talk, WRAX will do something different with their mornings.

In T-Town - WZBQ will change formats (possibly to CHR/Rythmic) and the cat will go back into hiding.

In Huntsville - Cumulus will get more aggressive and find ways to earn a bigger share

In Montgomery - who cares?

In Mobile - WABB will finally realize how much they need to appreciate Matt & Jay (the dedicated pros that make people WANT to love the station)!

Are you hinting towards a shakeup of WABB's morning show?
______________

You can't hurt my feelings Jason... I just laugh at all this crap...
It doesn't mean anything.

1 Year from now: Montgomery

1. Bluewater loses Alice 96.1 when it is discovered that there was never a license for the station... Al just made the whole thing up so he could sponge off the record companies and play a big joke on Rick Peters.

2. Hallelujah 104.3 goes dark after Jesus returns and raptures the staff away to heaven... the devil takes over the license and appoints Al Stroh president of the New "Demon 104.3"

3. The WLWI vs. Bama Country war escalates until Rick Peters and Bill Jones beat each other to death with copys of the Spring Arb.

4.Cumulus broadcasting hires Joe Hagler as Operations Manager. Joe flips Fox to Motown Classics and Y-102 to Spanish Sports Talk.... (and sales go up...go figure) Joe also appoints Kevin Elkins Program Director of Talk 103... chicken updates are now heard on F.M... (and sales go up... go figure again...)

5. Skipper wins big on a double diamond machine at Victory Land and leaves Alabama to retire in The Florida Keys...

hahaha
well then....
I win the lottery and buy out the CC Huntsville cluster, Move TAK to another frequency where it can go full 100kw and change the name to "the fox" and pick up where WXFX left off in montgomery, Cumulus of Huntsville spontaneously combusts taking alll their stations off the air, and new stations come up on the frequencies, 93.3 being jacked while 104.3 is revived as urban, and Rocket swaps places with star to take on the full 100kw classic rocker (with a much larger variety than ever possible when under clear channels wrath) while lite 96.9 takes up Top 40 and picks up where WZYP left off, all while WDRM is left alone for the most part other than some playlist tweaking

.......

Absolutely not. I wouldn't have any knowledge of that if it were true. I just know that Matt & Jay are the heart and soul of that station.

Yeah, I think either Hot 107-7 will either lean more toward Urban, or more toward Urban A/C. They definitely will more than likely make some changes in the music though I think.

Hot 105 is going to have to do something, because they are starting to get stomped, and by a much weaker station than they are. Maybe get some new jocks and tweak the music some

As far as Huntsville goes, Power 93.3 will change it's name. Probably to Kiss or Magic. They will stick with the heavy new R&B and light Old School R&B for a while, but I see a full change to Urban A/C comming eventually. 103.1 WEUP is already repetitive. They never stopped being repetitive. I hate that. They aren't as bad as Jamz in Birmingham, but they are getting close. I don't see any change for them anytime soon. Especially with WHRP changing to Urban A/C. The real question is, what will Cumulus do with WXQ 92.5 and 94.1 when they finalize the purchase from CC. I'm hearing rumors that they will simulcast with WVNN talk, or they will break up the FM simulcast of 92 and 94 and do talk with WVNN on one frequency, and something else on the other. I can't wait to find out!

You know what's really funny, if those station changes happened just like you said, that would probably work out REALLY well LOL!

IMO they need to take down that repetitive mess called 95.7 Jamz and become an urban. The last thing we need is another old school R&B station b/c there is already 3. I'm so sick of not being able any new music until 3 months after it is released. I wish WENN was still at 107.7 because at least we would have a urban that gave us a variety of hip hop and R&B and a slow jams shows that played songs that I grew up on not my parents.

yes, that's the sad part about huntsville radio, it's so boring that any change at all is exciting
probably the only change to the radio dial up here that ticked me off was the start of the WAY-FM translator on 99.5, making it very difficult to get WZRR
______________
