Predictions for 2006

Well gang, since interesting things happened last year in Denver Radio(95.7, 92.5, 101.9, 102.3, 102.1) anyone wanna make predictions on what interesting things will happen in 2006?

I say Jack goes. Since Denver has so many Rock/AAA/Hot AC/Modern AC sounding stations and with Jack trying to cover Denver more so then Ft Collins, 105.5 will flip. My prediction: Wild 105-5 Blazing 10 joints in a row.

But enough about my predictions. Yours?
______________

Urban AC (Today's R&B Hits and Oldies) on 101.5
Edited by noknownuser on 01/03/06 04:48 PM.

Doubt a hip hop station would come about at 105.5. That puts them at a clear disadvantage going up against KQKS. THe signal at 105.5 doesn't cover the entire Denver Metro sufficiently. Most of Northern Denver burbs are fine, but the signal lacks big time south of Downtown. I could actually see another country station going in at 105.5 if Jack doesn't work out.

If they played it right, they could TARGET Denver to hurt KS, but also pull #'s out of Ft. Collins by hurting Kiss FM. Could be 105.5 The Beat - Colorado's Hip Hop Station!

Cheers for now :)

They could also just as easily hurt KOOL by pulling #'s and mixing in some old R&B stuff too.

If they do it right, they can hurt KS-107.5, KISS-FM _AND_ KOOL 105. Heck, you might even be able to throw in KJCD as well.

Think of it as kind of a hybrid Hip Hop and R$B station. They might even be able to keep the JACK name too as it would make a cool, yet unique, moniker (Think THE NEW 105.5 JACK-FM - THE STATION THAT _DOES_ KNOW JACK ~ 'CAUSE WE _ARE_ JACK!).

Whaddya'll think? :)

Cheers for now :)
______________

quite possibly the worst idea ever....but thanks for checkin' in pos

I've got to agree that really is a bad idea. Basically they would be making a JACK clone, only out of less popular music. Personally I don't see JACK going anywhere this year. As for them taking on KS 107.5 the thing to remeber there is that KS' major audience is suburban teenaged white girls. As much as they may try to say other wise. So if they went on a 105.5 freq that didnt reach the southern suburbs where most of these girls live that would basically be suicide if they were trying to compete with KS. I predict that a year from now JACK will still be with us. Now WILLY and JOSE that might be another story.

Thats interesting really it is..
FOr one thing I don't see Jack going away any time soon at all.. I think the people and the PD at Jack Love Jack to much and they are having a fun time programming jack and sending scripts to the voice of jack to read over the air waves! And plus putting lots of music on their so I don't see Jack changing format any time soon unless NRC gets boughten out that is the ONLY way I can ever see Jack changing..

your right a yr from now Jack well still be on the air becasue remember it is owned by a RICH Person that also owns NRC! And Like i said before they are having to much fun programming Jack and I don't see them getting bored with it at all.
Haa I doubt that if KS 107.5 went dead that those girls would kill themselves that is just silly. after all it just a radio station and nothing else really? Nothing to kill themselves over.
______________

Who owns it (and their financial status) has nothing to do with it. NRC is a business just like everyone else. If the station isn't turning a profit or their ROI sucks, they'll flip it or sell.
______________

Well so far Jack is doing quiet well, maybe not much in Denver but up here ya know! :) And I like I said Safford, I don't see them flipping Jack at all for any reason. As I am seening NRC is a very unquie ( yeah mispelled) company that knows how to turn a profit for any of their stations. And I have heard a few commericals for companies up here in Fort collins on Jack, so that means people are listing to Jack up here at least. And proably alse where in Northern colorado and prossibly in Northern Denver area as well.

I'm not saying the girls will kill themselves, I was saying that if JACK tried to take on KS, JACK would be essiantilly comitting suicide.
