We've already seen one change in the market with 790, what else is on the horizon? What are your predictions for 2006? No unnecessary slams please, what do we all really think is coming to Memphis radio in the new year?

The Buzz may do something.....I have no idea what. I think WMC might have just snatched the Classic Country format away from them.

I'm sure Dr Flinn will change format on at least one....maybe 2 of his stations.

There will be another spanish station in the market in 2006 (won't mention any calls...but according to the trades, it's for sale right now.

U of M and UT will both be on different stations next year.

Dave Woloshin will return to the airwaves in 2006......Janis Fullilove won't.

Mike Fleming will.........opps.....almost made an unnecessary slam.

Drake & Zeke will not be the salvation of 98.1

Satilite radio will not make signifigant headway into the "real radio" market....at least the Memphis market.

680 will have shokingly good books in summer and fall....elections....you know

I could probably come up with some more....but my brain is tired...and my beer is empty.

I'll wager that the BUZZ will go BUZZ'n back to the 80s with a retro format, or something along those lines.

It's like taking money from you, brother! Take the blinders off, dude. Ain't gonna happen. They'd never put 94.1 closer to 'RVR's target demographic.

94.1 may play some 80's, but as a part of the whole "Charlie FM" approach (even THAT could be a problem for 'RVR). Either that, or they're being fitted for spurs. I don't think Classic Country ever would be considered for 94.1...it would have to be a Hot Country with lots of attitude and fun (gotta make KIX sound old...and that's not hard to do.) That's where my money would be. The variable in this is Kidd Kraddick and his contract. Does Entercom cut their losses and eat it? Or do they stick it out and hope that Kidd suddenly catches on? No matter what they do, it will have to compliment, rather than compete with WRVR. That's all that matters, protect the cash cow.

Also, 990 gets sold to Simmons and they put on an Urban Gold format (ala WESL in St. Louis).

This thread goes all the way back to last year.... but it's worth revisiting. Radiozinmyblood was correct on over half his predictions.

Anyone care to make predicitons for 2007?

I think D & Z have helped 98.1.

I would not have predicted Bev would get the boot from 103. Or Steve from FM 100 for that matter.

I think 2007 will be more of the same. Kix 106 will still be strong, since they are the only real counrty station around.

Snap 94.1 will not stay as it is for long. Major changes are needed.....like music that doesn't suck.

I think the FM100 morning show will make more of an effort to be a "wacky" and "zaney" morning zoo instead of what it has been for so long.

The Crew will stay strong, but Bev will be missed. I hope they totally let Baddog loose on Memphis. He's a comic force to be reckoned with when not controlled by the Man.

I beg to differ about Snap in 2007, I think they'll generate some good numbers, it's not so much the music I'm concerned with, but their style and feel of their future personalities.

I feel that 'RBO may make comeback although, I dislike the Steve Harvey Show & Basiden, those shows create freakin' buzz and people are talking.

As for flips, don't really see any on the FM dial, WMC-AM needs some help, but it's still a fairly new format.
Other than that, I can see much of a change anytime soon
