PREDICTIONS FOR 2007

Here are some predictions for 2007... What do you think?

1) When 2007 is over, KISV will have been #1 12+ all year.

2) One of KUZZ's legendary jocks will retire.

3) Clear Channel will flip a station.

4) The first station to change format in 2007 will be Play 103.9.

5) KGFM will lose listeners through the workday, but will still be dominant in mornings. Dean and Rachel are just better than Brent Michaels, who is still too green to carry a morning show alone. Buckley will go after Ken McCloud hard to replace Brent, but he will stay at KBKO. Meanwhile, KGFM will look into strengthening their workday and court Kristen Jacobs.

6) KBKO will still trail KUZZ, but Ken will close the gap in the mornings on 107.9

7) After 2007, KNZR will be slightly ahead of KERN, but Ralph Bailey will not work there.

8) Steve King will not lose his job in 2007.

9) KUZZ will still have the best promotions team in 2007.

10) At least half of these will turn out to be garbage.

Some non-reliable predictions for 2007.

My take on your take...
1) KISV will win all but the summer book 12+ being beaten by La Presiosa (105.3) with the Spanish weighting in this market.
2) Not one, but TWO longtime KUZZ personalities will retire in 2007. Once one goes, the other will feel its okay and not disloyal to jump off the Buck Boat.
3) Clear Channel will NOT change formats on any of their stations in 2007. THAT is a bold prediction and more inclined to be a risky one.
4) The first station to flip formats will be...yeah...its Play.
5) KGFM will continue to tinker, and try to evolve to a more Hot AC...fully taking on Kelly. This will further alienate the core AC listeners, helping 97.7 grow slightly. Dean will be let go over "philisophical differences" by the end of the year.
Kristin Jacobs will stay right where she is...primarily voice tracking her shift as she is now.
6) KBKO will continue to chip away at KUZZ, putting it in the top 8 stations in the market. In a surprise move, KUZZ will go after Ken for mornings after Gradowitz retires. Its a move that can be perfect for the Owens clan...it cripples KBKO and also Clear Channel in general, since Ken's wife is one of the top sales persons in the cluster and the market and she'd most likely make the move with him to KUZZ. Question is, will Ken bite (he's been with CC a long time)?
7) KERN will continue to edge out KNZR, owing not to better programming, but to much better marketing. Ralph Bailey will try his hand at TV again...fulltime.
8) After a 4th straight down book on The Fox, and no ratings on 970...Steve King will be shown the door. He will however, refuse to go through it, and will try to convince Jim Bell its only a window.
9) Now with the sale of their TV station, Clear Channel will forge a new partnership with KBAK 29 and will have some very creative cross promotions in Spring and Fall. To get back at them, KGET will steal the entire sales staff from Mohawk Street in an overnight raid.
10) Most of these may happen...or are garbage...but its fun garbage.

1) KISV will become AGM's latest Jack Format, relaunching as Diddy Nine-dee fo won. Huge ratings failure. Does AGM still know how to run a station any way but into the ground? Goodness knows that anything mildly successful eventually gets castrated by AGM... Does being #1 in the ratings really affect KUZZ's billing anyhow?
2) The Gradowitz still won't retire, Donna will explode live on the air. Where in the hell did they find her? It's almost like Lauren Michaels with a twang. ('Cept she was good)
3) Clear Channel will simulcast KBKO on 970... Let's be like KUZZ....
4) What's this Play 103.9 I see the signs for... Can anyone hear this thing?
5) KGFM goes spanish.
6) KBKO will flip. CC will eventually give up. It still doesn't sound like a country station, just a hicked-out AC.
7) KERN will swap with KERI to put itself on a 50kw blowtorch. I'm still surprised it hasn't happened yet. Cotton plants north of Lerdo Highway will now be able to hear Scott Cox continue to toot his own horn. (we still love ya man!)
8) Steve King will still post religiously on this board, often responding to his own threads, only to make feeble attempts to save his own arse.... Little does he know, none of us care. We'll walk out of Woody's one afternoon after lunch and see him hanging from that window...(or was it a door)
9) Clear Channel will sell the whole Bakersfield cluster. Owens will pick up a few to "diversify" KBKO gets 'sploded.
10) I can only think of one, maybe two, that have a snowball's chance in Mohawk of happening.
Happy New Format...er year..

OK this seems fun so here is my take,

1) KRAB will get a much needed face lift. ( Nirvana and Pearljam arent new rock)

2) KISV will flip flop with KUZZ for #1 but eventually own the #1 spot permanently.

3) BEAT will slowly but surely chip away at GROOVE, much like KBKO has to KUZZ.

4) Jim Bell who everyone has said " his days are numbered" for atleast three years now might finally be shown the door.

5) I cant even make a wild prediction for KGFM...Who knows.

6) Rush will continue to keep KNZR on the map however KERN wild see its way close to the ratings of old.

7) Brent Michaels will get some much over due respect as a morning show talent.

Then again its radio who the hell knows !!

Have a great 2007!

Here is my take on the Modesto Radio Market in 2007,

1) A station will change to the "Movin' format in 2007!

2) I would LOVE to see the "old" 97FM format of the 1980's make a comeback(remember the slogan
"The Station That Listens To You.)

3) KYLD out of San Francisco will take over the #1 spot in teens in Modesto.

4) Two more spanish stations will hit the Modesto airwaves by June.

5) I would love to see Kat Country boost its signal so it can reach further into The Bay Area!!!!!

6) A new Classic Country Station will hit the air

7) CC and Citadal will swap stations!!!!

And again...anything can happen! Have a great 2007!!!!!
