Yeah, I get the idea that after an age doing that show, Jim left the building at Broadcast Park screaming about enduring hooking up dozens of drunk guys with overwhelmed girls.

Jim has told me he repeatedly asked his station ownership back in his Dating Show days if he could do regular talk for even just one hour a day...even if it was 11pm-midnight or on Sunday night. They repeatedly said "no".
Sooner or later, he became so frustrated he quit, without even having a next job lined up. And, he was well-paid for the time shift and market size. No offense to Tom Erickson (who does a good job IMHO)...but, letting Jim go was one that station's rare tactical errors.

Jim's talent really was shown through when he was filling in for Stan Piatt on WNIR back in those days. He wasn't forced to endure hooking people up on dates and he could just be himself on the air. Glad to hear that he has an on air job at WHLO in Akron now. Jim is a great talent.
Don't forget.... that 99.1 translator could also rebroadcast an FM digital sub-channel... all kinds of possibilities. My guess though that WTAM goes on 99.1 but if it appears that the station is gaining traction (and one of the FM's is losing it) then maybe to a full-power FM.OhioMediaWatch said:

In Akron, whenever the 102.5 CP goes up (the deal between EMF and CC), that frequency is already tabbed to rebroadcast WKDD (HD2), which is rather conveniently a simulcast of WHLO/640. The WKDD calls are listed on the CP.
I'm wondering what the delay is on that...the CP has been approved already, but 102.5 is still pumping out 10 watts of Air 1.
A translator could directly rebroadcast WTAM. It would not have to be on an FM sub-channel. It may make sense to put WTAM on one of its FM sub channels to reach that handul of listeners who has an HD radi
Predictions for 2012? How about for my personal media use? That's a different direction than giving opinions on what specific stations might do. Well....
I will fill up the space left on my current MP3 player with about 4 different styles of music dubbed from a variety of sources. Maybe eventually have to buy a new MP3 player with more capacity (I don't want music on my phone).
Music radio stations today play the same 300-500 tracks and read pretty much the same promotional liners over and over and over and over. Most talk programming on radio (or satellite) is controversial, sensationalistic, and/or political.
Yeah, I know all of that stuff works with the general public...it's a business aimed at the masses. That's fine...I get it. It's just not for me.
So, with respect to radio/TV...2012 for me means even less listening to most radio stations (or streaming), and very, very little TV (not much of a change for me).It's not that I won't listen to radio or watch TV at all...just less and less. It's amazing how there have a LOT of changes that have been happening for over a year in both radio and television. My guess is there will be continued changes between now and December 31.
We still have to see what happens with WQAL since they are looking for both a new AMD co-host and a PMD host. Here's my rundown:
WKSU - No major changes except maybe some shows.
WCPN - No major changes except maybe some shows.
WKRK - Tweaking with the jock lineup.
WZAK - No major changes.
WQMX - No major changes.
WFHM - No major changes unless Delilah gets picked up.
WAKS - No major changes.
WONE - No major changes.
WKDD - No major changes.
WNCX - Possibly more jocks departing and/or music adjustments.
WGAR - No major changes.
WMMS - No major changes unless the rock playlist is adjusted.
WDOK - More tweaking with the music and jocks.
WCRF - No major changes.
WQAL - A new AMD co-host, new PMD host and more music adjustments.
WCLV - No major changes unless Ideastream has something in store.
WMJI - No major changes unless Lanigan decides to retire.
WHLK - No major changes.
WNWV - Adjustments with music playlist and jock lineup, but not too many changes since they just flipped.
WENZ - No major changes.
WHLO - No major changes.
WKNR - No major changes.
WEOL - No major changes.
WTAM - Adding the 99.1 FM transmitter likely, but not too many changes.
