Predictions for KTFM- err El Taco 94.1

It's the same argument everytime with the same results. Dance music has a niche here that will always be around and will always make it profitable, but it doesn't translate to success or profitability on the radio. I've been hearing dance music is the next thing for 20+ years now, and it has never happened. Broadcasters who have agreed have never been successful doing it.

At least there are translators and HD channels doing dance. That's probably the best it's going to be for awhile. There's no conspiracy against the format. As greedy as so many people think radio execs are (and many of them are), they'd be doing dance no matter how much they hated it if they thought it would make them money!

I agree. Thankfully, we options than just the FM dial.

Yup....EDM is dead. LOL

On a global scale, yes that's decent. Here in the States it is still a niche genre and format, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Even streaming stations here have shut down (EDM & Dance) because of lack or funding and sponsors.

To go out and dance in clubs or concerts is cool. To listen for long periods on the radio... no.

Their mix show is good Saturday nights, glad my new antenna setup can pick them up out at Lavaca county, since Hot 957 doesn't do any mix shows any more at that time of the evening.

Reading online KTFM morning show is no more. Praise Jesus!

Here's hoping 94.1 hires a team that pushes the envelope and creates noise in the market.

But they just re-launched Energy, why fire the morning staff? Alpha makes no sense, haha.

Did some more research on this. So they 're keeping the Murisal chik and letting Blondie go? I also saw Nugget got a new gig in Memphis. Here's a shot in the dark. I bet they hire Xavier, formerly from 98.5 if still available. Wouldn't shock me at all for a ratings boost . Just a thought, do u think they 're gunning for a more "Hispanic" morning staff? I just say this because it seems like a big "heritage" puro San Antonio station and maybe that's how they want to appeal . Who knows what's planned .

Hmmm...the speculation is driving listeners crazy. San Antonio is already buzzing about X&B getting back on air soon. Is the rumor move to HOT a decoy or is it true? Is what the morning show at the BEAT heard true and X&B making a move to ENERGY? Or will ENERGY bring in new blood?....I love radio.

Crickets don't buzz, Bully, they chirp.

Edit to add: No, but seriously, you guys at KTFM are really blazin' a path, right towards the next format tweak.

You are absolutely correct! Bringing Xavier to KTFM will be a short PPM booster. The air personality is one problem but the major issue is the music. Too many repeats with no variety. How boring!! The sad part is, a baby translator is beating 100,000 watts stations. LOL. More proof with right format, people will listen despite its limitations.

Settle down! With exception of this radio board and radio geeks, no one talks about 94.1.

Syndication . Seems like everyone is going to it. 96 did it years back, kiss did it letting lisle and haun go, the beat recently, and now 94. Wow.

While The Beats morning show is syndicated, it's based in SA. Similar to KISS morning show.

The new morning show on 94.1 may create a buzz and a following but unless the playlist changes, 94.1 will still be a failure. Anyone remember when Drex on 102.7 KTFM had the #1 morning show but listeners tuned out once the show ended at 10? No joke. Look it up Grooves. Anyhow, not likely but here's hoping Energy streams Movin 92.5 playlist.

Do u know if the girl 94.1 had just hired stayed on or did they let her go too?? I actually liked Blondie and Nugget, too bad. I guess Rossi got out just in time with her gig over at SA Live.

Thoughts on the new morning show- Perfect! This is exactly what 94.1 needed. Now, expand the playlist beyond the hip hop nonsense and the same 50 tracks.
