predictions for NH arbs?

I doubt there'll be much change. WOKQ will do well, and FTN and JYY will jostle back and forth. WLNH will be flat at best (with a decent PD it might become a force to reckon with), the Hawk simulcast will do OK with WGIR and WZID placing high in their demos.

I dont know ftn had some staff changes, and lnh has thier pd as the mids. I do think zid and gir will do better but im not sure which classic rock will win out

yeah honestly whats up with that nhab post for kxl? in this day and age no one does anything for free let alone work a shift. I could understand if it was for a non profit but really. I wish I could see just how many responses he got from that post.

Hard to predict. Book placement is a major factor, especially north of Manchester. That market in Concord and Laconia is huge. How many stations actually cover the region? I travel through the region regularly and the only stations that seem to cover the entire market are stations that aren't even in the market. How much stock can you put into a book where stations in the market cover only a quarter/third/half the market?

When it is THREE New Hampshire stations. Doesn't the cluster get counted as one? Or, are the other two considered part of the Seacoast Arbitron?

probably another tie between wgir-am, wrko-am, and wtkk-fm in Manchester. It is sooo ridiculous that wgir-am can't beat those two Boston talkers in NH when it is an NH station. See my other post about that here: http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,75031.0.html

I know. They should really split the book up and make it two smaller regions. No one in Concord is listening to anything in the Lakes Region and no one in the Lakes Region is listening to anything out of Concord.

I know noone in concord is listening to lnh, if they want ac they listen to zid. but if they want chr I think concord people do listen to mix over jyy. jyy says they are a concord station but they try to play more toward the mass boarder. Its seems like mix, in the lakes, is in concord alot. but your right concord/lakes is just stupid. we will see if they even keep the bok in that area. I think Nassau is the only one buying the book and if they keep having some not great numbers why bother buying it?

Nassau and Clear Channel are the only ones buying the books in New Hampshire, according to one of the Arbitron reps.

so when both start thier slash and burn sales the book will be gone. Im surprised that nassua is buying the book, it seems they are cutting costs anyway they can. I would rather spend the money on say a LIVE personality then the book. I hear that most concord/lakes nassua stations are litteraly 2 or 3 people on air staffs. They are famous for voice tracking from out of state.

Boyz!!! My big girlfriend at cc tells me that arbitron offers most a 5 year contract buy. So, depending on when they signed on at Nassau/cc...that will most likely determine when they'll end or re-new the agreement to purchase the book. I must say from up here on the farm in Sharon, their cost cutting is only the tip of the iceberg. 2 or 3 people on air staffs is pretty hefty! They could do it with less, and have - just look at some of their other stations. With LIVE bodies, come big headaches, and benefits (that they have also cut)... Your Mary agrees its much easier working with the cows out in the barn...and sometimes, Less is more!!! Yee haw!!!

Ms. Mary ;)

5 years should be coming up with in the next year or 2. The area that the concord/lakes book covers is just to large. I dont see it staying a market for long.

They probably offer the better deal for five years. I know that when I was working at a small AM radio station in Concord, the fee was about $5k per year, for two books. That won't buy much staff time.

no but when you have a group with at least 3 stations, ie lnh and the 2 oldiez thats $15000 a year. you could hire some one to do mids on lnh, or live afternoons on the oldiez. get some sucker fresh out of school or some parttimer who just wants to be a radio star and boom your local and live. thats the problem with radio today no entry. when we all started over nights where it. you started by doing an overnight shift, cart dubs and ripping ap storys. now where do the noobies start? there is hardly a chance in hell to get into radio now unless you now someone. and if you do get in its part time vt, its just sad. :'(

That's a good point actually, especially when your competition is small mom and pops who don't use Arbitrons either.

I mean if your ratings are that good it doesnt matter if you buy the book. The agencys look at the book, if your good enough they are gonna call you, if you stink they arnt. Plus in the smaller markets Joes bar and grill could care less what your 18 to 24 5am to 10am with women looks like. If you walk in to some of these local mom and pops and start talking numbers thier eyes are gonna gloss over and they wont buy because your wasting thier time.
