Predictions of 94.9

Has anyone ever noticed that when 94.9 changes format it is always on Veterans Day? What are your predictions of a format if they decide to change? I hope they would go back to K-Best 95 and play 60's 70's and the first wave 80's hits. And have a full lineup of live and local on air personalities like WMXJ in Florida.

I would love a Rythmic/Dance station to bring back a unique format that no one has anymore expect Vegas but I will be realistic and hope for a Rythimic CHR that mixes Top 40 with Hip Hop similar to Power 106 in LA. Blazin 94-9!

Z90 is a sell-out and became bland when 98.9 went Spansih.

If they want to do something progressive to a growing portion of san diego they should do techno, and go after the gay and lesbian audienc. That would be different?

Is there any evidence that 94.9 will be having a format change???
If they aren't any good at being an 80s station, or a classic Hits station, or a Rock station, why would they be any more successful as a Top 40 station, or any other format?

They have 5 CHRs now. All doing pretty decent in the ratings.

Uh...
When you say they have 5 CHRs, do you mean they are all exactly Mainstream CHR? Or do you mean they have Two Mainstream CHRs, one CHR Dance and one Hot AC?

If not, what stations are you talking about?
I've never heard of a market having 5 Top 40 stations.
(which doesn't mean it hasn't happened, I just never heard of it).

I don't know call letters there but there's 93.1 The Party, Hot 97.5, 98.5 KLUC, 104.3 NOW FM, and their newest Jelli 96.7 (internet controlled radio). All mainstream CHR except 96.7 is Dance-Leaning.

I doubt FM 94/9 would flip anytime soon. What they ought to do is dump the morning show and go music intensive in A.M. Drive.

However, if they were to make a change, I think CHR/Pop and Classic Hits would be the two most viable options.

I guess it depends on one's definition of "mainstream" - it's true that the lines are blurred these days.
From what I've been able to research from looking at station websites/wiki, yes.com playlists, etc, let's examine:

KPLV-FM-93.1 Clear Channel "All The Hits" Mainstream CHR - maybe slight rhythmic lean
KYLI-FM-96.7 Aurora Media "Jelli Radio" Dance CHR - primarily remixes of CHR hits - rimshot from Bunkerville, NV about 80 miles NE of Las Vegas
KVEG-FM-97.5 Kemp Broadcasting "Hot 97.5" Rhythmic CHR - leans Hip-Hop/RnB with a few pop songs - rimshot from Mesquite, NV about 80 miles NE of Las Vegas
KLUC-FM-98.5 CBS Radio "Las Vegas #1 Hit music Station" Rhythmic CHR - pretty much within description
KFRH-FM-104.3 Royce Int'l/Ed Stolz II "104.3 Now FM" Mainstream CHR - pretty much within description

That's only 2 then. Rhythmic CHR and Dance CHR are not CHR.

I'd go "Hot Jazz" on 94.9. Billy Cobham, Weather Report, selected Mose Allison and Dave Brubeck in the gold rotation, sprinkle in a little Jeff Beck. I'd listen all night.
