Premiere Announces New Hosts For Rush Slot

One will be Los Angeles. Buck & Travis are on KEIB and Bongino is on KABC.
Not exactly comparable signals... KEIB is a deficient signal, but not terrible in daytime hours. KABC is simply marginal because of low power and having its principle coverage in areas that are predominantly Hispanic, Asian and Black.

Oh, you think so?? I just tuned in to catch the end of the show and heard Limbaugh droning on in a very long clip.
I meant the person, not his influence or his recordings. Buck said that the new show "will continue to feature Rush's wisdom as it relates to the present day."

If this show is going to succeed it must do so on its own merits, not because the hosts are kissing the deceased posterior of the former host!
No argument here.

I wonder how much of this pandering is due to the hosts and how much is due to management.
I think it is mostly the latter. The new show is, for all practical purposes, a continuation of The Rush Limbaugh Show. Therefore, the new show's podcasts are part of The Rush Limbaugh Show's podcast series.

Or perhaps both. They each know what they signed up for. If they objected, they could have stayed with their own shows.

These two can only dream of having the credibility of Rush. So they glom on to the familiar star, and claim to be influenced by him as an attempt to win over his dedicated fans.

Maybe they should have just kept playing Rush reruns, like NPR does with Car Talk, even though nobody owns a 1997 Geo Prizm anymore...

I kinda like the idea of keeping the same theme song, etc. it shows continuity, and there's something comforting about tuning in at noon and hearing it. That said, Clay and Buck need to develop their own "shtick." Enough of the Dead Rush replays, it's time to move on.

Good lord people, it’s been one day. Heck, one week, one month…they’re going to spend time assuaging a change-averse audience that the same “all Democrats are satanic”‘pablum will be, um, liberally shared every day for three hours.

Yes, I agree that iHeartMedia should have just said goodbye to Rush last week and moved on.
I still say move all those past shows to a premium 'ditto-head' streaming package. Gotta believe numerous of those adoring fans will pay money to relive the past glory that was Rush Limbaugh. Charge a subscription, plus sell ads on the stream too. Always a pleasure to see certain sectors of our society willing to pay a little extra for their entertainment.

Car Talk reruns ended a couple of years ago on NPR.

I sampled Bongino in my market this morning. Immediate reaction: Annoying. Maybe he gets better the more you listen so I will give him the benefit of doubt. But just a poor initial response for this listener.

I don't know why I hadn't thought of this earlier. I checked WPTI Greensboro NC and heard the familiar theme song and the familiar 800 number. Clay and Buck didn't interest me so I went back to oldies hoping to hear something good.

The show was preceded by an ad for the new iHeart James Golden podcast.
