President's Televised Address

The president announced on Tuesday that he will do a live primetime televised address to the nation on Wednesday at 9PM.

All four networks have scheduled 15 minutes of time for the speech. This president doesn't usually hold himself to 15 minutes, so we'll see how this goes,

According to the linked story, the president will speak on his accomplishments during his first year. I thought that's what the State of the Union was for. But nobody asked me.
Presumably, going to war with Venezuela

Great way for him to change the subject. BTW the previous administration also supported the opposition candidate in the election.

This story was reported by CBS in August 2024.

This is interesting. The president's speech will interrupt ABC's coverage of iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball! Talk about killing the mood!

Even worse, it will interrupt the finale of Survivor on CBS.

Didn't anyone look at the schedule before doing this? If he was unpopular before, this won't help.

ABC of course did precisely the sanewashing as expected. A milquetoast report from their correspondent pushing back ever so slightly on actual inflation numbers, while “both-sides”-ing it so as to not offend dear leader. David Muir was an absolute disgrace to journalism tonight.

You were the only person still watching.

I'd love to be in the morning meeting at one of the stations wondering who approved this in the middle of the holidays.

Be that as it may, being the only one watching, it does not excuse the same networks that endlessly pored over Biden’s every stutter just pretending that what we saw wasn’t an incoherent string of lies layered on top of lies, delivered by someone with the severely diminished mental capacity.

People don't need to be told what they just watched. They already know. That's why Fox didn't say anything and went back to their regular programming.

I was assured he was universally worshipped

Literally a deranged old man screeching and lying

I did something unusual (but in line with this board) - I listened to his speech on the radio. I have found in the past sometimes only hearing falsehoods and not seeing facial expressions can be less upsetting. That didn’t work this time - his desperation and extreme propaganda may have come across scarier when listening to audio only.
