President's Televised Address

My online pet peeve is folks, including lawmakers and media personalities shouting "25th" into the void. Umm, JD Vance (who is campaigning for Viktor Orban in Hungary) and a cabinet of sycophants aren't going start the process. Trump could and would fight it, and then it would take 3/4 of both houses to remove him. It's not the "easy" button. Impeach, convict, remove is the only option.

Unfortunately, we've been down this road before. In the wake of the January 6th riot/attack on the Capitol, there was yet another attempt to impeach, convict, and remove him. Not only did that fail (thanks to his party in both houses of Congress) but in the wake of that, the highest court in the land essentially ruled that any attempt to hold him accountable for a crime was set to "extremely hard mode" from here on out, emboldening him to believe that if he got back in office, he would be effectively invincible. And he did. With a very few exceptions, sitting members of his party in Congress have shown no desire to even question his actions, let alone go along with an attempt to remove him from office. For ANY reason.

Bringing the media back into it (since CNN was mentioned), Scott Jennings (CNN's version of Jessica Tarlov on Fox) said he was "not gonna second guess" Trump after me made a threat to wipe out an entire civilization. He somehow found a way to excuse that. Jennings is a window into the minds of Trump supporters in the electorate, the media, and the halls of power. Threatening to (let's be honest) nuke a nation of 90 million people is not sane, yet the people who could hold him to account don't seem to think so.

There are those who interpret that statement as meaning to destroy the entire infrastructure of a nation, such as bridges, refineries and power sources. That does not mean “genocide” but, instead, destroying the ability of the Iranian nation to continue its reign of terror.
