President's Televised Address

Radio & Tv marti will be carrying the speech on their AM, SW, TV and web platforms.

I’m listening to the pre speech coverage on 11930 khz right now

I just checked my local TV stations in Boston and it looks like CBS and Fox elected to carry the speech (or at least portions of it) while ABC and NBC passed on it. WHDH-TV also appeared to pass on airing the speech live in favor of airing their usual 9 pm newscast.

Apparently ABC decided not to carry it in its entirety. Out here in L.A., we got the regular 6:00pm edition of Eyewitness News, followed by a 15-minute special report from the network (pre-empting the first segment of World News Tonight) with clips and commentary.

A friend of mine who tried to watch the whole thing started off on the Fox O&O, but they dropped it several minutes in so she switched to the CBS O&O, and they dumped out early as well. Ended up catching the end on the AP live stream.

OK, NBC, ABC, and CNN didn't air the address live via OTA or cable/satellite, but they did via their websites and streaming. Are separate ratings available? Given the viewing trends of the last few years, I would think that the latter would be more important.

Are separate ratings available?

No. News streaming numbers are all internal. The thing is that the streaming channels didn't interrupt entertainment programming.

The fact that news streaming isn't covered by Nielsen is why they felt no risk in airing it. It didn't hurt their ratings.

Revival of a cheesy 80s game show > verbal vomit
Maybe. But (as reporter Tamara Keith noted on NPR's "Morning Edition," this morning), this speech is less important for what he *said* but more important for laying the groundwork of what he *intends to do* should his Party lose the House and Senate in November (and I won't go any further than that.)
