I've used one for about 15 months. I assume it has a 12A T/U/X 7 in there, and I'm fine with it the way it is.
If I were looking for a REAL change in the audio, I wouldn't expect very much change at ALL by simply going to a different manufacturer
of a 12AX7 or etc. I would put on an outboard socket and a 12SN7, which are much much more linear.
I've got one in a second studio. It works pretty well. I don't use the tube drive.
It just seems to add noise but no flavor. Decent for $99. One of my first home studio purchases.
