Prestige Subaru weather bulletins

Twice in the past couple of weeks I have seen a severe weather warning crawl with the name of a business on one side of the part of the screen where the crawl was.

In the mountains where the TV screen was larger, and once at home where I couldn't quite make out the business name but could tell it was a business name.

I guess this is a good idea. It helps pay for them to do it and the business gets their name out, even in a bad situation.

I have seen businesses sponsor closings for winter weather, with the closings at the bottom of the screen and the business name in a corner.
 
The second station was showing "Toyota/Scion", possibly with a dealer's name I couldn't read, on the right side of the screen at the bottom. The Prestige logo was at the top on the left.

Another station had a Hyundai dealer on the right, though on cable the name of the dealer was cut off, at the top of the screen.

All that's missing is a logo on the lower left.

All of these have been car dealers.
 
As long as they are not running it as an EAS Alert, I guess it's OK, legally, to have a sponsorship. Of course, it may just look too much like a commercial to some people, who might not take it seriously.
 
Kinda off topic, but several times at the bottom of the hour on Q13 Fox's (KCPQ) morning newscast, a pop up ad (similar to internet) pops up for McDonalds. Yet another way for the station to get that good $$$...and annoying too.
