Pretty Boy Swag [NO ****]

Question of the day for censorship.

Why the hell are stations scrambling or bleeping the "no ****" in the verse of the song Pretty Boy Swag?

Its not one of the "7 dirty words"

If you dont know the verse, and how can you not

I'm pretty boy swaggin' in the club I feel sexy, (no ****)
No **** shawty but my chest is straight flexin (flexin)

Stupid to me to censor it.

Radio bleep out Kanye West " No ****" (Jay-Z-- Run this Town ).

I believe because a number of record companies and radio stations in major markets are realizing that quite a number of LGBTQ people listen to urban music as well and doesn't want to offend them. Honestly, I think the phrase is stupid because the usage of it alone brings more suspicion to an individual than just saying whatever is on their mind.

Not sure how someone can be offended. And I think most folks know what they mean...

How about this "that's gay"

and I'm talkin about censoring "no ****" << thats gay! (no ****) but still "that's gay."

anyone offended yet? ::)

but I guess..... folks are taking all of this "offended" stuff so far. I worked with a old white lady once, she said she was a server in the restaurant in the 70s, and some guy, a customer, said some things to her which could be considered today sexual harassment or whatever, anyway she ended up dumping a bowl of soup on him. Can't do that today..........

I think about alotta things we used to do and say growing up, can't even do it now. I'm sick of living on 'egg shells' that someone is going to be "offended" OMG!!!!!!

Question then, are there be different rules of censorship between Urban, Country, Rock, and Howard Stern? Seems like it....

Uh, that's besides the point. LGBTQ is a growing demographic that tends to show more loyalty to musical brands than most consumers (just look at the how marketable Madonna, Janet, etc. still are long after the apex of their careers). It is a stupid phrase and if somebody is worried about "sounding gay" then their insecurities is more of a personal thing than somebody for the public to hear or have to listen to...

its not about dissing a group or offending anyone but i guess some can take it that way, its not a 'deadly word" to say on the air i just think alot of our songs are over-censored

Over-censored or not, we don't need a generation of youth saying that ignorant phrase every time somebody says something that doesn't conform to the obsessive westernized standards of social behavior.

I wish they would edit that garbage song of the airwaves.

so why in ur opinion is the song garbage?
i think its creative and different.

I'm sorry man> I'm just not a soulja boy fan. The beat sounds like every other southern rap song today. Also since when is it cool to "sing" off key. :-\

It shows that there is still a subliminal notion of what is considered masculine social behavior, and if an individual does say or do something none conforming to that social norm then they must to clarify they aren't a "****". It is pointless because everyone isn't going to be social conformist. The existence of a phrase like that show that our westernized society has a long way to go before we are more enlightened and less judgmental of each other on social norms of gender or sexuality specify behaviors.

well funny thing is, i guess its been cool so "sing" off key since the mid 90's with green day etc etc in alternative rock! ;) but rapping is not singing.. rappers never claim to be able to sing lol that's why they are RAPPERS :D

I see the phrase as more like saying "im not that way" and not as a "diss"........since there are plenty of non-str8 folk that DO look at him (and many other artists) in that way. I cant see anyone taking offense to it, but seems like maybe you are. Sorry it just dont seem that big of a deal to me. Now if he said "F. a. g. dont come at me," then I can see that as a diss.. feel me?

There's a difference of approach. Which is why I still don't get the censorship but o well.
