PRI Shows No Longer Available On Sirius
PUBLIC RADIO INTERNATIONAL shows are no longer being carried on SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO as of TUESDAY (9/26). The programming remains on XM SATELLITE RADIO's Channel 133 and on broadcast affiliates nationwide.

Did PRI pull their shows from Sirius in an exclusive deal with XM (and bucks from XM)?
Or did Sirius drop the PRI channel because they figured it wasn't drawing subscribers and the bandwidth could be better used for something else?

Two years ago, Air America Radio made an exclusive money deal with XM and pulled their programming from Sirius.

Once again, the two satellite companies fight each other to make exclusive deals and the subscriber gets screwed.
IMHO they are shooting themselves in the foot. Neither service provides everything, so the easiest choice for potential subscribers is to wait and do nothing.

And if this is a money deal, shame on Minnesota Public Radio for giving in to corporate greed. Public radio is supposed to be above this sort of thing.

I have XM and haven't heard anything new from PRI here. There was some grumbling in Public radio circles that they may have made a mistake signing with Sirius because of their lower subscriber numbers. I believe the reason they signed up with Sirius is initally it appeared that Sirius would be the first up and broadcasting, which they were but there weren't any radios available.

I remember waiting for Sirius to arrive in this state to get satellite radio because they had the public radio channels, but when I heard the poor (and in mono) audio quality I rarely listened. Switched to XM a year ago and never looked back. Except I miss Talk Left.

PRI On XM

And now .... the rest of the story.

PRI Shows Added To XM Lineup
PUBLIC RADIO INTERNATIONAL, which recently ended a relationship with SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO, moves some of its programming to XM SATELLITE RADIO's "XM PUBLIC RADIO" channel starting NOVEMBER 6. "THE WORLD," "TO THE POINT," "TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE," and "THE CHANGING WORLD" are set to join the XMPR lineup, where some of PRI's other shows, including "THIS AMERICAN LIFE, "STUDIO 360," "THE TAVIS SMILEY SHOW," and "WHAD'YA KNOW?" already air. PRI pulled its shows from SIRIUS on SEPTEMBER 26.

Money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money.
